Hello all,
Just joined the forum.
Born in San Francisco, CA and raised in the S.F. Bay Area. I retired from education (Music, Industrial Technology, Computer Technology) in 2007. Spend winters in Mexico south of Guadalajara and rest of year in Northern California, near Sacramento. Piano from the age of 7 (never stopped). Guitar since high school (never stopped), and harmonica since last June (haven't stopped). Degree in voice also.
I've signed up for Gindick's jamcamp for March, so will be driving from Mexico to Mississippi if anyone here in Mexico needs a ride.

Hello to all here.
Born in the UK, brought up in the North of England in the'50s & '60s.

Moved to Essex in the '70s.
Moved to the South Island of New Zealand in '86, been here ever since, in Christchurch at the moment.

Listened to all kinds of music, but mostly blues for the last 20 years or so.

Never thought of playing an instrument until I was off work with a bad injury for 18 months, about 6 years ago.

Being bored and broke, I bought a Silver Star one day on impulse, thinking 'How hard can it be? It only has 10 holes.'

Spent most of the last 6 years as a raw beginner, currently improving to the stage where I could call myself a medium-rare beginner.

@Raytones,
We spend the night in Ajo every year on our journeys south for the winters. We cross the border in Lukeville and make our way down below Guadalajara. I practice harp here in the mountain town of Jocotepec. Ajo is known to someone.

I was born in Worcester MA USA and raised in Shrewsbury MA which is a small burb near Worcester.
I started playing harp at about 13 years old while hitch hiking around the state. I live in Charlton MA and work in Husdon MA. I have been getting paid to perform since about 1980 - I'm OK I guess. Playing harp is not my full time occupation but rather a paying hobbie. Twenty years ago after my first heart attack, my cardiologist told me that I had to "stop playing music in those smoke filled nightclubs" but I could not give it up and ignored him - so I guess I love it. Carmel, IN (Near Indianapolis)

I just started playing harp in August of 2010. Became obsessed with it for the past few months and have made some nice headway. As a musician (guitar/bass/piano) I had a head start on theory and progression, so it's been more of a focus on technique and practice thus far. The more I play the more I need to learn. The more I learn, the more I need to play.

Hi guys, I'm new to this site, only signed up last night.

I'm 53yrs young, married, and live in Truro, Cornwall, England.

I've been playing for a couple of years now, on and off. I started playing old cowboy tunes that I remember my dad playing on his old Hohner chromatic when I was a kid, but I've always had an interest in the Blues.

I started with Don Baker's instruction book and cd and made quite good progress. I've recently downloaded Adam's advanced beginners course and am doing ok with that too.

Looking forward to when I'm ready for the intermediate course.

Born and bred in the UK, living in Birmingham on the shores of the sunny Stratford Canal.

Had the bright idea a little while ago to start playing harp just to spice up the instrumental breaks in a ukulele band and now I'm well and truly hooked. I guess I just like playing instruments other people consider toys!

Hi Adam and all my fellow harpers

I'm Jim and I live in Southampton, my home town, down there on the south coast of England. I've been playing the guitar for 32 years, used to play local gigs but haven't performed for a while now. I play electric guitar, acoustic, slide, and my style is a mish-mash of blues, rock, jazz, folk, punk, world music and free improv. I like to mess around on the soprano uke and alto recorder too. I finally took up the blues harp last March after meaning to do it for many years. It was my one & only new year's resolution. I only regret that I didn't do it much, much sooner.

Cool thread, gives me ideas for our harmonica splinter cells taking over the world (that will be a in a separate thread).

I entered this world in Richmond, VA, but moved to Sprendlingen, Germany before I was a year old. I was raised there until I was 4. I still have very fond memories even from such a young age.

Now I live in Petersburg, VA. If you've never heard of Petersburg, just wait until this Fall when Spielberg's movie "Lincoln" comes out, because he is filming it here.
