I was born in Orange Park, Fl. Jacksonville, Fl. is my home. My early childhood was split between here & Houston. Ran away at something like 14 yrs old. Put many a mile on these old feet but I have always come back here. Always will. Bought my first harmonica when I was bout 16. Picked it up & put it down quite a few times. I am embarrassed of my skill level today. Any one recognize this lick ? Da ditta da da Da ditta huh uh huh. Yeah Tony Glover, drove me friggin' nuts. I think. Whew with that said Great site, very helpful. If they had the internet when I was a kid I would be one skillful & intelligent individual today. jk ;)
Left NY in '87 for Florida (Palm Beach County mostly).
I am currently working in southeast Texas: Beaumont/Port Arthur area, having left Fla. 4 months ago...
This might not be a 'hotbed' of cultural activity, but the region does have its share of luminaries: Janis Joplin, Johnny Winter, as well as Neo-Dadaist Robert Rauschenberg share the top of that bill...
Next: attempting access to a Ph.D. program (subtle hint, AG), having earned my M.A. in English in 2001...possibly Oxford, MS!
one of the first postmodernist playwrights, Samuel Beckett (with some upstart...); my undergrad degree was in Theatre, focus: playwriting!

With Memphis, Jackson, Brownsville, evan Nut Bush (Tina Turner) just a stones throw away, the music is gonna get ya.Been blowin a harp now a few years and love it. When not blowin though my 100w Bassman I have a little Fender 5w Tube amp that has been tricked out and will scream. Hi peeps. I'm another one from over the pond in Scotland. I've lived all around the west coast and at present on the Isle of Lismore in Argyll. Found this forum and gladly received my acceptance yesterday (Thank you) Was given a Hohner Big River in C as a stocking filler a few years ago and I just got round to giving it a go seriously. I watched some of Adams excellent Youtube lessons last year but things happen and so I'll say I have been learning and practicing for about a month proper. I work from home (telephone job in construction) but it's a great view and I can pick up the harp at any time. (I make the calls, not the other way :-) )I play guitar a bit and used to busk in Glasgow when i was about 18yr with a wee Pignose 7-100 and a zoom 9000. Plan on getting them from the loft and getting a mic somehow. -ive$$$ lol. anyways. I'm really exited to hopefully get to know some of you and receive some help and good tunes along the way.

I love being back to music. I'm 89, born in Chicago and have been living in Israel for 30 years. I've retired 4 times from the world of marketing and teaching. The last time as a Prof. of Management. I had an excellent music background which came to an end with WWII. It included playing the harp.A year ago I started with Howard Levy and Dov Hammer. \finally my Question. What marjor considerations to getting a custom Harp?
Hi.. I'm 89,orn in Chicago retired and living in Israel for last 30 years. Started studying the hARP WITH hOWARD lEVY and Dov Hammer. I get the best of Classical, Jazz and Blues. After 20 months I wonder if I ready for a custom harp. I need advice. You can hear some of my playing on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheKatzim Please Let me know what you you think
I was a member here previosly but left for a year or so. I may be in this somewhere already, but since I'm starting over, hi, my name is James and I live just north of Seattle in an old milltown. I've played with harps since 1967, I'm mediocre by todays standards, and play more guitar than harp these days.
Hey! Don here from Erie,PA. I have been a musician all my life (I'm 57) playing guitar, drums and singing. I have been learning to play the harp recently and enjoy it alot. I own a Special 20, a Golden Melody, A Suzuki Promaster, and a just got a Seydel Steel Blues. That's my favorite so far but I like all of them. Oh by the way...I play while driving to and from work! That's how I found this site. I googled playing while driving! I'm glad I'm not alone!
Hello, Born on a farm in the Central Valley of California 60 years ago. Not on the farm anymore but still in the valley. Clovis, Ca. Started the harp about 6 mo ago.
Hi, All :) My real name is Joe Augustin. I'm a singer-songwriter and guitar player, from Richmond, Indiana. My Achilles Tenderloin project draws influence from several genres, but I can't help but to listen for the blues in all of them. It's hard to nail down a favorite, but if I had to name my top three blues performers, I would probably go with Nehemiah "Skip" James, Son House and Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter.
Where harmonica is concerned, I'm just starting to get over the "raw beginner" hump, thanks to Adam's instructional videos. I just started a couple of days ago, but I'm taking (and playing) my Marine Band everywhere I go. Okay, I'm a librarian, by day, so I haven't been blowing harp at work, except on lunch.
Working as a software engineer, and have never played any instrument in my life, unless you count the required 3 months of playing the Recorder in 3rd grade.
Just started playing the harmonica (8 days or so), but with Adams help it's going rather fast :)
This is a great thread for me to go ahead and introduce myself. I'm from Houston, Texas, where I've lived for the last 33 years (since high school). Have dabbled with the harp for several years, but now that i'm playing in a pick up band with my brother (I play rhythm guitar and lead vocals) have been working to add some harp in -- have definitely benefited from Adam's advanced beginner's lessons.

NYC Born German-American mongrel grew up in Valley Stream (Long Island) now live in Berlin (Germany) & work almost all over the world (though East Africa mainly now). Harp's so great for all the travelling. Been playing harp on & off (mostly off) for 20 years or so. Re-dedicated myself to the harp a good year ago.
