Hey, I'm still around and check the forum very often. Ok fine, sometimes pretty much daily. Found my second post, which was on December 2, 2008. Extrapolating on the frequency with which I post, I believe my first post would have been on or about April 2, 1979(!).

Highlights of my association with this fine forum include--

--Experiencing the wrath, love and drama of Chris Michalek
--My treasured Bb Buddha harp which Chris had made for Jason and posted for sale here.
--Building my DIY foot percussion setup based on Isaac's template.
--Participating in the original harpfriends channel
--My portrait done by Tooka as a reward for participating in the blow-offs.
--Attending HCH2
--Lifelong attempt to master Adam's North Mississippi Front Porch Blues, my own personal great white whale. As a paean to those who scoff at wannabe's copying songs verbatim, my ultimate goal is to recreate not just the tune note for note, but the entire video. "...there's another way to play, and that is to make sure your foot is keeping the beat..and then learn to free yourself up to play or not to play whatever barrrr of the blues you happen to be in....' I've been working on getting Adam's pronunciation of "bar" just so in that sentence for years now. Still no luck.

Honorable mention:

--Gently correcting Kingobad when his posts would drift slightly too far to the right.

To secure both my legacy and eternal forum life, it should now be revealed that one of my sycophantic posts inspired Adam to start the "where are you from thread?" Yes, read the first post--that was my excellent suggestion!

Unfortunately, in response to my post #22, Barbeque Bob explained that 97% of forum readers would not get my brand of humor 86% of the time without use of smiley faces, other glyphs and the like. Since I'm either too old, too macho or too insecure in my manhood to actually make a smiley face (:() I regretfully decided to just be a forum flaneur.

Fun reminiscing! Nice to see Isaac grow up before our very eyes. Professor Isaac, that is!

Added Snakes and Hollistonharper to the 4+ club! Grey Owl, how long have you been a member? I know it's been awhile, but I can't recall if you are 4+er or not! :)

@Hollistonharper: Great memories! We've had a lot of times here on MBH, some good, some great, some not-so-great, but all of them unique and helpful in their own way! This has been a major influence in my life over the past 4+ years! :)

@nate: Nice trick! Yeah, it's too bad the earliest posts appear to have vanished. Perhaps they are still out there in the ether somewhere, but even if not, it's cool to have recalled at least a bit of those first, halcyon days of the forum!

I joined in 2008 and used to be a prolific poster but after having a blazing row with Buddha (who died the next day!) made me have a long think about why I was posting here and although I check out the forum most days, I'll only post very occasionally now with information and try not to give opinions.
I love this forum and the people on it and I wish it well for the next 5 years.

@Grey Owl: Oops! Didn't mean to rub salt in a wound! ;) You definitely feel like and MBH oldtimer, so I'm sur the doorman will let ya into the club meetings! :)

@Oisin: Nice to see that you are still around! I hadn't seen you post in awhile and wondered if you'd moved on... I'm glad you are still here! And yes, I think Buddha's passing made a lot of us think about our online persona and what's worth commenting on, and what's worth letting slide...

Buzadero, I'm not going crazy. I've been there a long time.

I had a productive day. I may have just solved the last piece of a harmonica invention idea today. Easy money, here I come! (And by easy money I mean maybe I can convince someone to take the idea and run with it and pay me off with a couple harmonicas.) :)

"Easy money, here I come!"

Awesome. Sell one unit to every serious harp player. You know how "queer for gear" harp people are. If you offer it, someone will buy it. Tell them it helps tone.

Yup. Sell one unit to every harp player. You might make enough money to go out to dinner.......alone.

Hey guys,... thanks nacoran for making me aware of this nostalgia thread (and congrats on passing the quadruple 6s, and for many more to come :).

What a great place to hang and to learn. I'm still playing from time to time and what is it that I practice? resonance... the longer I play the more I realise that it really all comes down to it.

Isaac, Im not quite sure on that theory of threads being deleted. From the member post counts it seems that its all their first posts... with the exception of dewey.deloe. But I'd just guess, he just attempted to start a thread twice before being successful... hmm.. who knows.

And, yeah,.. nacoran, you're right, the thread I had posted wasn't actually the oldest.

Wow! Great to hear from you again GH! It's been a looong time! I'm really glad this thread is achieving what I hoped it would... So cool to see a lot of the old names again. GH, looking at your post count, you are almost in the 2k+ club! Just stick around for a couple of days and I'm sure you'll be in! ;)

@lumpy: A while back I started a facebook "group" for MBH. I've recently been trying to resurrect it, so please feel fre to join up: https://www.facebook.com/groups/122958302224/. I've set it to be a "private" group, so you have to send a request to join, but the little known secret is that I approve pretty much every request! :) I was just hoping to keep it a bit more focused (on the MBH community) than some of the other harp-related facebook groups out there... But the more the merrier! So please join up! :)

@Buz: Zhin is still around and blowing more harp than ever. He's very active on Facebook, and seems to be having a pretty successful solo act. I'm not sure how often he checks in here at MBH, but I do know that Buddha's passing really affected him (as it did many of us). I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I seem to recall that he sort of stopped posting here as frequently after that... As for Zack, I have no idea. I do know he and Buddha had quite a few run-ins on the board, so I wonder if he also withdrew after Chris passed. It's actually really weird to think about how much Chris's big online personality was a power on this board, and how it's changed since he's gone. I miss that guy, and really wish that more folks could have gotten to know him in person.

GH, great to see you!

Isaac, when I emailed GH, I'd looked up his post count. The last I'd found was 1980, so I knew he was close. I already told him he needed to make a run at the record books. :)
