As this thread seems to have run its course, voting will be locked Sunday Midnight GMT time and the results will be announced then.
The "Blow Your Brains Out 2" Voting Thread.
There has been an excellent response yet again and the harp playing has stepped up another level this time round. The quality of playing and recording both in video and audio is quite stunning. Everyone has made a sterling effort and overcome a lot of technical difficulties to take part.
To see the entries click my signature.
All entrants are obliged to vote (if you don't mind) but any forum member is free to vote and give useful critiques. Vote for the one you like most or up to three in descending order of preference.
This thread should be policed by the members themselves and I would suggest it should be locked after say 2 weeks so we can judge who comes out on top.
PLEASE keep it on topic for BYBO related posts only, otherwise it gets too difficult to track what is being said. I would suggest maybe the moderators could delete any posts which do go off-topic.
For those of us who couldn't take part this time around, I suggest we start woodshedding for BYBO3.
Good Luck everyone. Keep it clean and legal. Now I hand it over to you.

Ok, just finnished listening to all of them... Damn they're AWESOME! So many cool and funny vids. Just as diverse as the MBH community. Very enjoyable checking all of it out!
-------------
Ok, so earlounge of course made an awesome video, and It'll be hard not ot vote him high. I love gaukur's piece too. A lot of soul. Very good technique. Liked that one a lot.
But then there's videos like bluesnut's, which I loove. It's exactly how i imagine the original blues playyer,... somewhere on the front porch... awesome athmophere.
The 'chicken wing manifesto', is a funny as hell.
Jim Rumbaugh's vid made me crack up... geordiebluesman delivered entertainment as usual... and some more that I didn't mention yet.
I'll get back to it more thoroughly later on...
A lot of very cool stuff!
-----------------
I would have liked to give a more thorough review of the vids, ... however here come my top three. My criteria was not skill, not groove, not improvement, not technique,... but the very subjective criteria of how much I enjoyed it...
1. Bluesnut: because it gave me the absolute authentic blues feeling. I loved his style, his sound.
2. Jim Rumbough,... because it was funny and very enjoyable
3. Isaacullah and Geordiebluesman are par one nr. 3. They both had solid groove. Isaac with the beatbox effects and Geordie with great lyrics. Both of their harping matched the song nicely.

OK, I'll kick off shall I? I've had a quick listen to them all but I want to take more time and listen to them all again when I'm not in such a hurry.
I will come back and edit this post if need be but my first impressions so far are:
1. earlounge
2. gaukur
3. Heart2Harp
Remember these are subject to further scrutiny yet.
This is going to be difficult with so many good ones in there.

Yeeeeha hot damn! there shure is some talent on display today. I have been through them all twice and made my choices so here goes. First place Heart 2 Harp, playing and vocals both outstanding. Second place, Earlounge, great tune and multi instumental talent ( how can he play harp that well after only 10 months?}. Third place Gauker, once again really good solid skillfull playing. Well done lads and by that i mean everyone, now the rest of you go and vote for me so i can boast about wining infront of my 15yr old daughter and make her think i'm an even bigger embarassment than she does now!

It's tough trying to pick the best in a freestyle competition like this. For me, choice of song, faithfulness to the idea that it was supposed to be a "harp focused" competiton and a number of other things that probably reflected my own personal biases, if even unconsciously, came into play. There were definitely a few that were good players, but for one reason or another I ruled out.
Ah, the vagaries and subjectivity of judging, eh? Anyway, my top three:
1. Gaukur 2. Sorin 3. Geordie

Very hard to choose - there's a lot of amazing stuff there. All my choices made me want to pick up the harp, stomp my feet and play along - ie. I was totally engaged. If I must choose...
1st place: Heart2Harp for foot-stomping Sonny Terry-style goodness;
2nd place Kingobad for a pounding version of Evening Sun;
3rd place to sQrin - cool song and energetic, entertaining playing.

My choices kept changing depending on what "yardstick" I was using. my final answer:
1)Heart2harp .......( I repect the 1 man band) 2)Gaukur ...........( I gotta steal some licks ) 3)Issaculla ........( That 1 man grove is great)
But the one I would prefer to listen to while driving down the road is from Earlounge.

I've just finished listening to them all. I'll need to go back and do some focused re-listening to some of the tracks before I make my vote.
First impressions of the gestalt: We are still a really diverse group! There are lot's of experience levels, interests, ideas, and executions represented. That is a very very good thing as far as I'm concerned. It DOES make it a little hard to judge though! ;) I've gotten to know most of the entrants over the last few years, so when I do judge, I'm bringing all of my context as to who the players are and where they are coming from.
So how do I choose? Do I go on which one was the best SONG, as in closest thing to a complete song that I would listen to on a record or hear played in a club? Who has the best HARP CONTENT, regardless of anything else? Who was most TECHNICALLY PROFICIENT? Who has made the BIGGEST IMPROVEMENT from the last time I heard them or over the shortest time? Do I allow the kind of music I LIKE to influence my choice?
I'm not sure yet. I think I'll choose one overall "winner" and then fill in some of those other categories as possible.
Very good show from all contestants! I'm very happy to be part of this group of harp players! ---------- --------------------------------------

I haven't yet had a chance to listen to all entries, but from what I heard, it will be hard for me to not categorize them similar to what isaac metioned above-otherwise I feel like I'm comparing apples and oranges and may not give credit where credit is due. Some bare-bones recordings, some more polished and produced ones, some singing, some harp-boxing, some Sonny Terry-esque playing, some stone-cold, unrehearsed improv(me!)-and I haven't heard at least 6 or 7 yet. I may break from the pack and give analysis of all of them, perhaps on another thread. I will say this-I don't think I'd put a rough entry such as I did into another 'challenge' with any of you again-you obviously all worked at it and brought your A Games. Good job, all. ----------

WOW WOW WOW... So much music and so much emotion. Kudos to all.
I'll cast my vote in a scientific way : whom I like the most :-)
1- Heart2Harp 2- Isaacullah 3- Sorin & CamiloHarper
A special prize may go to GermanHarpist. Although he's not really competing, I know what he is doing here. And that little girl's happy face made my day.
And for the job he's done, I propose Tookatooka to be elected president of BYBOland by acclamation, North-Korea style. Thanks Tooka.

Okay, here's what I'm doing. I'm going to go through everyone, and give my comments to their entry, and then I'll put my overall winner(s) at the bottom. And before you all say "hey that's a lot of work to do that!", no, I don't expect anyone else to do the same! :) I've just been stuck down in my dungeon-like lab in the basement of the Anthropology Building here at ASU, running some very long computer simulations, and crunching the hundreds of thousands of output summary statistics that come pouring out of it. For hours. And hours. And hours... So trust me, listening to each of the entries has kept me from poking a sharpened pencil through my eye and into my frontal lobe in an attempt to self-lobotomize. :)
And just so we're clear about my comments/critiques: My goal with these comments is to sharpen my own ears, so I can better hear what I'M doing wrong in my OWN playing. Along the way, I hope I can pass on my thoughts about each entry. My opinion is just that, my opinion, so please take it with a grain of salt. If you have any further questions about what I've said about your or anyone else videos, I ask that you get a hold of me via the YouTube mail function on my YouTube account! I sincerely believe everyone did a phenomenal job, so if it seems like I'm picking on you, I'm not! It's probably because you are one of the ones I think did a very good job, and I just really wanted to see you take it one notch further!
Okay, enough chit chat, on to the nitty gritty:
jodanchudan: Understated and tasteful. Great tone and most of all, great feel. Well done.
Ant138: GREAT acoustic tone and use of hands (best of the group for hand technique). Just a very nice rendition of a classic song.
Upstate: Good amped tone! Good use of chords mixed with single notes. As a whole, the piece tended to sound a bit like a harp solo, and not "solo harp". I think that's because it was hard to hear any chord changes? Maybe a bit more structure could have help lead the listener through it more? Anyway, you displayed very good technique and tone, but I guess hearing your technical ability made me want just a little more of the piece in terms of it being more of a complete song. It's clear to me that you can swing and that you can really blow some harp. I just wanted something a bit more cohesive outta ya!
LumpyWaffleSquirt: VAST improvements from last time!!!! To me it sounded very much in the vein of Old Timey Country and Western music: Thin reedy tone, tongue chops galore, and very staccato. I think you nailed that style pretty darn well! Good job!
BronzeWailer: Very solid job! My one critique is that it seemed (to me) that you were listening to an imaginary backing track in your head, and as such, the harp seemed like it was playing counterpoint to music that we, the listeners, could not hear. Maybe I'm imagining this myself, but that's what my first impressions were. Like my comments to Upstate above, your technical proficiency made me want to hear this as more of a complete piece for "solo harmonica" rather than just a harmonica playing solo... Does it make sense? I dunno, maybe I'm just hearing things! :) You've clearly got the talent, I just think you can execute it to a more complete effect!
IsaacUllah: Man, what are you thinking even trying to enter into a competition with the likes of these fellas? Seriously man! Get back in that woodshed!!!
GermanHarpist: That girl rocks! As for you: you have great technique and superb tone (really nice tone!), but in this track I would have LOVED to see you use your hands more (like Ant does). I know what you were doing with this track too, so I'll leave it there. Great tune. I would definitely chuck a buck in your tips bucket if I heard you two on the street!
KingoBad: Great groove! This was DEFINATELY a piece for SOLO harmonica. Complete unto itself. You could make some serious change playing on the street by yourself with this style. Very well done!
gaukur: Gaukur comes out of nowhere and scores a touchdown!!! It swung, it was modern, it was subtle yet bold, it was.... GOOD! Well done!
clamsharplayer: Man, that was some serious 77 style punkrock harmonica! Kudos for mixing up the genre's! You are clearly a man after my own heart! Very entertaining video and great punk song!
toddlgreen: I have the same response to you as I did to Upstate and to BronzeWailer. I really wanted to hear you play a real complete piece for solo harp. I really like your playing in your vids with your band, and it's clear you have the chops. This piece lacked cohesion on it's own. It's clear from your comments above that you recognize this, so I won't go on. You're the man though!
Heart2Harp: Mathieu, I've made my thought about you known in the past. You have an extraordinary talent, both for singing as well as for harp. You are a cut above the rest. I must admit, I have a little bit of a "harmonica-man"-crush on you. Is that weird? ;)
geordiebluesman: I really liked your song there! The lyrics were really clever and well delivered! I would have liked to have heard more harp content for this particular contest (it's hard to compare you to some of the other entries on the harp content alone), but if I was judging just songs as songs, you would have ranked very high! Well done man!
MrSo&So: I hereby nominate you as “Best accompaniment to a backing track”! I loved it. Very well done, and tasteful. I also liked how you switched up into the high register towards the end. Very nice indeed. Well done sir!
JimRumbaugh: Kudos for mixing up the genres! It's clear that you know that song well, and that you can play it, but I thought the tone was a little too “tight” for this particular style of music. I felt like you playing a little constricted, and that if you opened up more, the tone would have become more expansive, and really would have blown us away. It could be because the mix was a little off (I could barely hear the backing track), so I will put a caveat on my comments until I can hear you play in a more evenly recorded track!
CamiloHarper: Great funky harp playing! And suddenly, I feel like going out for some wings... I'm craving them! I wonder why? ;) But seriously, you harp part fit very well with that backing track!
Harpdude61: Like Jim Rumbaugh above, the mix was a little too low for me to really hear the backing track under your harp. This could be the reason why I feel that maybe you needed a little LESS crunch on your amp settings for this particular track? I don't know exactly why I feel that, but for some reason, I think that a cleaner setting may have suited the backing track a bit more... But good playing though!
Dabluesnut: I want you playing slide reso with me on the street! The guitar was hot! The singing was killer! The harp... well, I think to be honest that the harp could use a bit of work still. It seemed that you are not quite yet comfortable playing in a rack, so I will reserve any more comments on your harp skills until I've heard you playing just harp alone. I've just started using a rack with my CBG, and man it's hard! Not just negotiating the harp while it's held in a rack, but playing another instrument at the same time! So I give you extra points for pulling the rack out! BTW, your harp playing in the middle is much better than in the beginning. I think the rack is causing some difficulty, so I feel sure that once you get used to the rack, it's gonna vastly improve your ability to play harp and guitar at the same time!
MichaelAndrewLo: MAL, you got a lot of comments about this track in your other thread, so I think you know what I would have said. I'll just reiterate that you are a really good example for all of us. The level of dedication that you exhibit is amazing, and inspires me to work harder at this little instrument of ours!
Sorin: How badass is it that you threw down in a car! I think that that is just awesome! Not to mention that you blew some badass harp too! I was really grooving to it! For a “last minute” submission, this is superb!
Nacoran: Nate, this was very very cool. The concept is really awesome. It reminds me of the sound track from the X-files for some reason, which one of my favorite albums of all times. One thing I think you could do is to pan the harp to the left, and the vocals to the right. That would help distinguish the two as separate identities that are just happening to be playing the same melodic theme, and would keep the vocals from dominating the harp. And then get some foot tapping in there too. Yeah. I've got a fever, and the only prescription is MORE FOOT TAPPING! :)
earlounge: This is a complete track. Cut it to disc, upload it to I-tunes, go out an perform it on the road. It's ready to go. I want to dance to this track and play it in my car on the way to work! It's clear that you are an accomplished musician, so I'm not surprised to see that you have achieve the level of proficiency on harp that you have in as a little time as you've done. Kudos and well done sir!
And the winner(s) is(are):
Heart2Harp and Earlounge!
Kudos and huzzah! You two have done an amazing job, each of you, and I'm proud to have shared this virtual stage with the likes of you! Well done!
Cheers, Isaac ---------- --------------------------------------

Isaac, thanks for the feedback. I should have rerecorded the vocals and left some room for a separate harp part. I didn't really think through the arrangement. I thought that while I was recording but I was running out of time and I ran out of time before I could add a drum part. I loved your entry.

Sorry MrVLUN! i got's confused with all them entries! I changed my post above to reflect the correct author!
@nate: Yeah, it takes TIME to do all that mixing and engineering stuff!!! I hear ya! I was going to do a nice clean recording of my track, and mix in Ardour, but I just didn't have any time last week for that kind of stuff, so I went with one of my "practice" takes. For what it's worth, I think you are going to have a killer track when you get the mix done right. It was really hard to pick out of all the great posts! I am going with my favorite from Isaacullah. It was original, creative, song oriented, and pleasing to listen to. Second is Gaukur with some killer blues licks.
I'm glad some of you liked my track! Thanks to everyone who voted for me and/or had kind words.
This is the first video I have shared with the forum and hopefully there will be more soon. I enjoy writing music with Protools. I like to sit down and start recording and see where it leads.
"But the one I would prefer to listen to while driving down the road is from Earlounge"
"I want to dance to this track and play it in my car on the way to work!"
These are great compliments! Your wish is my command... click the link below to go to my reverbnation page to download the an mp3. I (fittingly) named it "Procrastination".
I have also posted a JAM TRACK mp3 without my harp track for free to download.
If you feel inclined, make a video playing to it and post it as a response to my BYBO video. I would love to see what I sound like with you guys playing the harp!

O.K. Here is my 2 cents worth:
MichaelAndrewLo should have blown us out of the water but he wasn't IN to it so.....not my first choice.
Tatoo Ant, Sorin in the car, and The Tree Upstate showed me something from the gut.....Good shit boys
Issaculla -Funky Earlounge- Very Talented Heart2Heart-Smooth and polished
Gaukur is my favorite! #1..... but I have to ask you little man "Are you related to Heart2Heart"? Brothers from another mother maybe?

Wow! where do i start.
I thought the standard overall this time was great:o)
Clamsharpplayer's video was very well made, great song choice and looked fun to make.
i thought Earlounge's entry was very good, i loved the way he went from instrument to instrument, very talented guy with some very cool equipment.
Heart2Heart: well what can i say, vocals and harp as always superb.
I loved JordanChudan's amplified tone it had a nice warm feel to it.
Bluesnut's slide guitar was awesome, loved it.
For me its a toss up between:-
Issac, i love what he's doing with the loop thing, he's really practiced hard with it and it shows. He's really inspired me to try it out when i can afford to buy a pedal.
next it has to be:-
Gauker, man i love that shuffle. It's exactly what i'm into at the moment, straight up oldschool blues. Its makes me think i should have entered my Laid back shuffle instead. I think the Harp was meant for playing like this.
Ok,ok i'm going to go with Gauker as my overall winner as he seems to have come out of the blue and played a blinder, and like i said it's the type of playing i'm really working hard on at the moment.
Isaac has to come a very close second for me, great harpboxing dude!!!!
Congrats to everyone else, i really do enjoy doing this and watching everyones playing, i think i've learnt something from most on here.
Last but not least again a special shout out to Tooka for organising this thing:o)

I really enjoyed listening to the various techniques and styles. Great job guys.
I based my winner on what a non-musician might enjoy hearing without regard to what it is and where it came from. In other words, what would the general public like best?
Heart2Harp is the one. He is starting to put those cool little emotional nuances in his playing and singing as well. Very good. He has got it.
I could probably come up with something much better (or not) than my one take shot if I stayed on the bottom 6 holes in 2nd position. I know I'm a work in progress, but I wanted to show that someone who starts playing in their late 40s can learn to play in several positions, with overblows, with overdraws, with tongue blocking, and using all 10 holes.
My set of Buddha harps arrive tomorrow. I hope these and my upcoming lessons from Chris will help me improve.
Again, great job everyone!

Hey Issac thanks for the review mate i was well pleased with your coments. I did actually do a version of the song without the third verse to create more room for harp but it just did'nt sit right, it felt like i was just putting more harp in for the sake of it and not in order to improve the song so i changed it back

OK- Everyone is to be applauded for great efforts. My opinions are based on BLUES HARP. Some of you are great at alot of things.
1- SORIN- Dude you can move around on the harp at a very good speed and I hear great tone on each note and each effect without any drop off.
2- Gaukur- Very nice playing. I think the acoustic style shows a players talent better for something like this. I am very partial to Old School Blues and I like your use of the upper end of the harp.
3- Earlounge- You sir are very talented.

@isaacullah, ahh crap... idk whats going on with that. Reverbnation hasn't ever given me a problem before. Maybe it limits the downloads in a day... 15 so far! I will try to fix it later tonight when I get home.

Just so everbody can see their name at least twice. I decided to post my notes, similar, but shorter, that ISACULLA's.
Toddlegreen very good playing. But I lost the theme of the song.
Clamsharper, good video, medium harp playing
Gaukur EXCELENT playing
Kingobad. Pro sound, lots of good licks, you have all the chops a guy needs, good energy, looks like your having fun, CON sometimes I found it hard to follow the structure of the song in what I heard
German harpist, I respect what you did. I understand what you did. In that light it was good.
Issaculla wonderfull beat box loop, good groove and sound, I could follow the changes.
BronzeWailer, good riffs, good groove,
Upstate, WONDERFUL tone. Some nice riffs, hard to follow the groove and structure.
LumpyWaffleSquirt Good idea, good execution. It was good to hear the tongue slaps
Ant138, professional level chops. Reminds me of Joe Filisko.
Jodanchudan professional level playing, a good variety of chops every 12 bars, tune was more muffled than I like.
Heart2harp best 1 man band, best vocals, great playing
Geordiebluesman, good energy, good original tune, good playing
Mr SoAndSo Good Stormy Monday.
camilo862 made me laugh with "chiken wing"
HarpDude61 deserves a big HUZAH HUZAH for showing us you can use 5 different harps to play a song in one key.
Bluesnut was our only guitar player with a rack mounted harp, you’re a better man than me.
MichaelAndrewLo tackled a latin tune with some scales I have not heard before.
Sorin put soul and energy into his video from the front seat of a car. A good Biker Bar player.
Nacoran a future blues tune. It has an original sound and feel. I wish there had been more emphasis on the harp.
Earlounge Exceptional video. Good grove, good licks. Amazing that you play all the instruments (except maybe drums) I would not mind listening to it over and over. I only rate it down (compared to the other entries) because it is an edited performance, though a very well edited performance. I describe it as "slick"

Sorin, I must have moved it when I fixing my folders on Dropbox. I'll email Tooka and see if he can fix the link. Don't worry about it though, I'll post the song when it's actually 'done'. The only parts I was happy with was the lyrics and the last 10 seconds of the recording. :)

I only now got time to listen! I listened to every video except nacoran's which seems to be offline. I congratulate everyone who entered. It takes some guts. Good for you. I knew I had a lot of material to screen - so I allowed myself to be my usual critical, I ain't gonna blow smoke up your ass self. As soon as I got bored, I skipped forward to see if there was anything new - then if there wasn't I went on to the next video. Many of the entries fell into this category for me. I made notes as I listened for the ones that made me want to listen all the way through - and then re-ranked the top 3 to imply my vote:
1) heart2harp - caught me from the first note - lots of sound out of that little thing! Way to mix rhythm and melody, chord and single notes, hand technique.... Great Voice, love the foot tapping, good tone, good energy. Excellent one mand band effort - you're ready for the street and stage.
2) gauker - great tone, tasteful overblows, nice use of chords vs single notes, and nice vibrato. Good structure to the verses, mixed it up so it wasn't repetitive at all, yet still tied together.
3) kingobad - good energy. Decent harp player, not a harmonica monster at all, and not a great voice (I'm just bein' honest and my guess is you would agree), but the playing is appropriate to the groove and energy level - the whole held together better for me than most.
Honorable mentions:
Jim Rumbaugh - Nice energy, mixing it up. The musicality is there. Need to work on your tone - you're constricting your embouchure
MichaelAndrewLo - very ambitious tune, smooth and fluid incorporation of OB's, nice progression of verses even if you might have run out of gas a little at the end - however tone is airy and weak - sound like you're breathing from the neck up only. Maybe this was a bad recording. 4:20 is a long time to listen!
Earlounge - impressive that you can play all that stuff, and nice video production value. But this is harp contest. I had to judge on that basis alone. Good work, solid, but tone a little lacking, overblows a little too obviously overblows, and not much improv - so a little monotonous for the length of the song. Would have been better if it were 3 minutes long! Extra credit for picking up the chrom at the end though!

Here aer my comments à la Jim rimbaugh (shorter that isaac's) BTW thanks for your comment Isaac. I'm glad myy funky harp moved you!!
Jodanchudan: I like your tone. Good use of tongue blocking, I think the thing you can improve is the articulation of your 2 draw full step bend. Make it a bit more smooth and you are ready to go!
Ant138: Nice rendition of a great classic.
Lumpy Wafflesquirt: catchy tune. If you think about it, harp was invented fot THIS kind of songs, back when mister Ritcher was inventing a little metal sandwich...
Upstate: Good tone, good chops, I liked it.
BronzeWailer: catchy riff but try to improve your breathing, relax your muscles and you will see things flow without less effort.
Isaacullah: Great improvement from your previos beatboxing harps. You got something here, something rythmical and catchy. You follow the 12 bars and don't get lost. I like it very much.
germanharpist: Moving stuff. Thanks for sharing and please keep teaching that girl.
Kingobad:Fast catchy playing, good vocals. Good performance,
Gaukur: and sudenly, little virtuosos from europe are conquering the world of harp playing! Good tone, great chops, good use of overblows. I would have loved a bit more of feeling tough! You have the skills, now make the harp bleed in your hands and in your mouth and you are gonna be unstoppable!!
clamsharper: I loved the video, it was an "experience". In terms of video it was my favorite of all them.
Toddlegreen: You can tell you have been playing for a long time. Nothing to say except a very good performance.
Mathieu H2H: You always play at your 100%. You take risks all the time in your playing and in your singing and I love that! Blues is (controlled) emotion. And you control it to the limits!
Geordiebluesman: You have a very nice singing voice. Also, cool lyrics!!
Jim Rumbaugh: I liked the country approach for a change. catchy tune. And thanks for your comment, I'm glad my song made you laugh.
CamiloHarper: The singing could be improved. Also, what was with that chicken wing thing?? THis is a blues harmonica forum, not a KFC!! :P
harpdude61:Good approach to a not so common position. I would suggest you to breath more relaxed, it seemed by your tone and your body that your are constricted in your chest and that is taking away part of your tone. Try to breath deeply from your stomach, your playing can be improved a lot only with that also you will see hitting bends in pitch will be easier.
Bluesnut: That guitar killed me... in the greatest way. I was deeply moved by your video. That is blues!!
MichaelAndrewLo: In another thread you said that bossanova was elevator music without much going on, and I, as a latinamerican have to disagree with you. Bossa can be very moving music, when performed by great artists.(Listen to Elis Regina!!) Your approach had very good technique but lacked a bit of emotion-
Sorin: Good tone, good timing,
earlounge: I liked it, good multi performance!
and my winners are:
Originality in music:(Isaac) Originality in video: Clamsharper
Best performance (multi-instrumental): Bluesnut. It seems harp is your lastest acquisition. When you conquer your harp playing, you are gonna be a monster!! A walking mountain of blues.
Best overall performance: H2H
The winner is H2H!!
I tried to give my insights, and my advices when I tought It could be helpful to others. No, I dont think I am a great player, but I do think constructive criticism can give us good perspectives.
Thanks!!
--------- With some latin flavour for you, chico!! :P

I thank everyone so far for the comments on my playing so far, it's helpful and really eye opening. What is interesting to me is that I chose the particular version because I decided to play without thinking at all and with only feeling and to me there were a few musical moments of value but the overall piece was not as cohesive as other takes in terms developing musical ideas. Many of you heard it the other way as lacking emotion. This might be due to actually watching me play instead of simply listening? Not everything has to be loud and blues to be expressive I think. In terms of what I am playing it is not overly technical, you can pretty much just play in 3rd position on a B-flat harp. I think blue bossa is a very beautiful song and the expressiveness comes in the subtle phrasing instead of loud honking. To me at least, beauty and subtlety is more expressive than straight ahead rhythms and brash (loud) sounds. think the harmonica has much undiscovered beauty in the shades and tones of its sound and think the blues is just the beginning of uncovering what the harmonica has to offer for other arrangements of sound. Nevertheless, thanks for the feedback.

Wow, I really enjoyed listening to them all. I'd say my favorites are these:
Heart2Harp -- continues to amaze with harp chops and vocals.
earlounge -- solid harping for a relative beginner, and I loved the multi-instrumental work.
Ant138 -- also very impressive playing
Kingobad -- very nice performance with singing
Honorable mentions to isaacullah (very enjoyable groove and use of looping) and gaukur (nice playing, dude) and Sorin (another skillful player just throwing some down Gussow-style) and MAL (very skillful playing, but I have to agree your tone could be stonger).
Thanks to those who mentioned my entry. It was a last-minute one, but I'm happy with it, and it is representative or where my playing is now, I think. Could you hear 6ob which comes in real handy in the first position, upper octave stuff?
And I missed hearing one from our selfless organizer, Tookatooka :(
Cheers to everyone who entered this time around.

Agreeing with a lot of things isaacullah said on the 22nd & a couple other guys.
I thought you guys all kicked butt. A number of ya are probably a level above me. I had been thinking of taking part but I decided to wait till the last minute and then a bunch of bad stuff happened this past weekend.

Well...wanted to enter myself but my 5 year old webcam that I never use had such bad audio quality that when I played the videos back to pick one I could barely tell I was playing harp at all! The audio clipped no matter how close/far I was. Hoping to post a video on MBH soon for criticism/etc. soon. Anyways...
My top 3 in no particular order: 1. H2H: Sweet harp playing, great tone (both harp and vocals), and awesome progress. I've only been playing for 2 1/2 years on and off and you seem so polished to me. Good stuff
2. Gaukur: Sweet blues shuffle and old school feel. Timing was great and screw all those youtube losers posting about the vid being fake!
3. Isaacullah: Simple- I want a loop pedal now! Cool, original stuff.
Honrable mention: Earlounge for awesome production, and Ant for great hand effects and full tone.
