Santa brought me the Zoom H2 I was pining for, and I am very impressed with it so far. Santa also brought me a bad head cold, so I haven't really been able to take full advantage of the H2, but I will-okay, you've been warned.

What did y'all get from 'Santa', or get for yourself?

Santa left a VHT Special 6 combo amp.

Nice tone, nicer price.

Sounds great with guitar or harp without any mods.

5 Buddha harps that I'd ordered in June, arrived on December 23rd - they had been posted on December 14th. So yes, Saintee was good to me.

@toddlgreene - When using the Zoom H2, I found this a very handy tool.

How to get the best from the Zoom H2

Have fun with it! I've managed to get some really cool recordings out of it.

I do like tea, and these came from 2 different sources. Not the hearty English that Kingley sent me last year, but good stuff.

Yellow label Lipton loose tea, or better than that? Turkish, perhaps? Mmmmm, good tea.

Santa also bought me a new bike to replace the one I had stolen...and a massage gift certificate. Musically, Santa brought my little boy his first drum set...and lo and behold, that kick drum works nicely if I were to borrow it for some busking.

I always buy my own socks so that I don't get any for Christmas !

My wife and son surprised me with an iPod Touch... I was very surprised... the very 1st app that I bought was the iStrobosoft tuner app for tuning my harps... not sure what other apps to get for it.

Any suggestions for iPod Touch apps ?

I'll probably still be using my 60gb iPod photo for awhile until I get use to this new fangled contraption.

From my Geeky brother a lighted magnifying headset. I figured he was regifting it but I tried it out tonight and it really made working on harps easier. Tinkered w/ a older Huang Cadet Soloist and turned it into a very responsive and playable instrument. I found a couple reeds w/ twist in them that I'd never picked up on before.

Santa gave me $50 on amazon. Looking for a goof around the house amp, so should I get a honeytone, a hodad, hodad II or other?

@AirMojo - There is an iTunes app called BHarmonica that I have found very helpful and well worth a buck.

AirMojo here are a few ideas:

Get the Amazing Slow Downer, or Slow Down Music Trainer, or ???

Maybe you have some reference materials that you would like to have with you at all times. Load iBooks and you can view pdfs. (There are other choices, but this one is easy to use.)

If you're interested in looping there's "Everyday Looper".

You might want to load a free piano keyboard app for practicing bends.

There are some 4 track or more recorders that you can get. There are several choices. I can't remember which one I liked best, but don't spend too much money. StudioMini is colorful and easy, but others like MultiTrack may be more powerful. Fun and easy can be good.

If you're into Jazz try iRealBook.

If you have a lot of flash to spare iMovie might come in handy. If you load Angry Birds or Cut the Rope your family may steal it away.

I wonder if anyone has tried the amp/effect emulators (e.g. Amplitube, AmpKit) with harp?

In a drunken stupor on christmas night I told my mother that "I hated my stove (a 20 year old Jenn Air) and wished it would die so that I could replace it"

Tonight my wish came true! I will be writing Sears a check for $2000 very soon.

I've amassed a mountain of harp cd's over the last 12 years or so (damn that Pandora web radio thingy!!!!) but my 3-disc cd player died 2 or 3 years ago so I've been trying the i-tunes approach of loading everything onto a computer and using various methods to connect it into my old stereo system so I can listen/play along to tunes in the kitchen while I cook dinner(s).
Sort of works but I'm dreading hardware failures and remain unconvinced about fidelity of uploaded tunes into apple format.
So....Santa did some checking around and I found a big honking box under the tree with my name on it. (Gee Honey...how did that get there?)
Turns out to be 301 disc jukebox cd player. I'm not even 1/2 way through loading it up yet but I'm liking it. It's tamed the sprawling piles of cd's, un-buried my record player and vinyl collection and, I'm hoping, given me way more and faster control of the tunes with better fidelity. (Have to do some A/B tests on that one.)

moose.

So far, Yeah. Got a Lo D Big River harp, and I like it. Also, picked up an early 1970's Ludwig 15" Parade snare...chrome/steel over 6-ply birch. Heavy and LOUD with regular sticks.
Got a surprise by also finding a signed edition of "The King and Us" by the late Paul Conrad. ( My other life as an editorial cartoonist ).
So, Santa Karma has been nice this year.

Yeah, pretty good! I got me a new Natural Minor marine band (key of A), and Dave Barrett's Improvisation book. The natural minor harp will be great for doing reggae tunes, and the improv book is quite simple one of the best harmonica instructional books I've ever seen. There's so much in there that will make me a better player. I highly recommend it!

Update on my santa steal...um, I mean thoughful gift!
I've got well over 200 blues cds loaded into my 301 disc jukebox player now and it's fantastic. I've been working from home alot lately (car/weather issues) and I just pop it on random and let it go. I'm revisiting plenty of discs I haven't heard in ages and the wife is thrilled with the totally de-cluttered living room music corner.
Now I just need to load up her non-blues stuff, setup a blues and non-blues index file that you can select it to play from and I'll be golden.
Highly recommended.

RT123, you are so cynical. I'm sure they did careful market research and concluded that 301 was the perfect number. It strikes a perfect balance between utility (301!) and not being gauche (302) in these hard economic times.

I'm still waiting patiently for my big presents to arrive. :)
