yeah, I apparently don't know the proper way to end the code...anything I put in after a link looks like a hyperlink on its own. There was no second link. I've edited it. ----------

I've driven almost that far to buy falafel...fortunately in New Orleans there are several places to get great Mediterranean food, primarily Lebanese. These things happen in the biz, unfortunately. Whatever the issue is, I hope it gets resolved and all involved are ok. ----------

I had heard rumors a while ago I did not wish to post for Jasons privacy. It's deeper than his band quiting-we all must support him-if youv'e ever met Jason or see him play, pray for him.
tmf, good point. As a fan of his music, I'm just sharing concern;I certainly don't mean to undermine his privacy. I too had heard things a while back, but didn't share them. I have spoken with him a couple of times, but not enough to call him a friend. Those issues i had heard of just came to light when I found this article. If the moderators think I am violating his privacy, feel free to delete the thread, as that certainly isn't my intention. ----------

I don't see that any of Jason's privacy has been violated by what has been posted so far in this thread. If there's a news story that claims his band has quit on him and that his gigs for June and July have been canceled, that's obviously big news in the blues harmonica world and this forum is a place where such news should be shared.
Jason is a member of this forum, as y'all know. I'll leave it to him to post whatever additional information and/or clarifications he sees fit to post.
I wish Jason well and I say to him move on, it will be better.
All of us who play in bands know the difficulties of personal and financial issues within a band structure.
The journey is hard, but the spiritual rewards are high in this artistical endeavour.
Hopefully it is only rumour, but my opinion is JR and New Blood played the most innovative and expressive and exciting music of the modern era and that speaks for itself, whatever any of those very talented musicians do next.
An this is why we wonder "why the pro's don't post" Problems most don't realize <> Good luck to Jason ,.stay strong ! ---------- Simply Unique Kustom Mic's By Rharley

Man...I had no idea..whatta bummer. That's life. I'm a huge Jason fan and dig a lot of the stuff I heard from Shawn and Weed. I hope all turns out well for everyone.
Well, I hope it's only rumors. JR & NB are due to play in Brussels the 4th of July, I looked on the venue's website and the show is still scheduled. ---------- http://www.buddybrent.be
@oldwailer - that's not Jason's site. That's his ex, Brady's site. They started it together before they split up. But Jason has always had a site for him and his band - http://www.jasonricci.com - that's the one that's down. ---------- /Greg
Please stop emailing me, I know nothing. If something were seriously wrong, I'm sure Jason would call me.
"The published story is both inaccurate and incomplete. I won't go into details, but suffice it to say that Jason will resume touring inAugust with a new guitarist and a new bass player. And he's got some surprises up his sleeve. For now he's taking a breather.
Re his website being down: The webmaster, the only person with the password to work on the site, renew registration, etc. had a personal tragedy and dropped out of sight; nothing to do with Jason."
the most worrisome sign in this is shawn, jason has been with him so long and they really play off each other well. must be serious if they are parting ways.
well hopefully nobody here is copping an attitude about Jason. having never met him but as one who has hung out at his site and also had mutual friends who have spent some time with him, i believe he's a talented, sincere, capable guy. seeing his videos convinces me he could teach me- a 37-year veteran messer-arounder on harp- a thing or 2 dozen.
if you have not been in a band, your opinion on this matter probably holds no weight at all. if you've never founded and tried running a band, you have little idea of the pitfalls that beset you from every direction. and as for myself, having never toured with a band and had all the headaches of travel, playing different joints every night, struggles with getting paid and keeping everyone paid, creating a killer show time after time and keeping it fresh, i can scarcely imagine the huge headaches involved keeping everyone happy and motivated and moving in the same productive direction.
i have founded and co-founded bands, hired, worked with, fired personnel, booked jobs- mostly local- and been in the role of ringmaster. it is no easy task even if one is young, energetic, and optimistic. and has a thick skin and decent coping skills. these days i prefer to let others make the big decisions and just pay me to be a side man. being a hired gun is much less stress on a 55 year old harp guy like myself. in the duo my wife and i generally split the duties- booking, rehearsing, learning new stuff, setting up to record demos and material for publishing, and all that. we travel together. if either one doesn't want to do a particular song, play a particular place, whatever, we respect each other and go a different direction. it works fairly well. in our fairly short career as a duo, we've played joints in winter with no heat, in summer with no air, played for virtually no pay, and done these things after traveling hours. we've gone in the hole financially more than we've broken even. this is a labor of love for us and we do it to share something we love. i really can't imagine having to survive on road pay as a musician, let alone the crumbs offered locally if you can get in the door someplace.
so as for Jason, i wish him real success and good fortune and i'm glad he's taking a break. he probably needs one!
nice one MP... It's no fun getting the boot. It makes all those "special" moments so untrue....very hurtful. ..they'll be in the sack together, soon. Make-up sex is awesome.

Why can't I teleport, if not to different parts of the universe, at least to different parts of my own house?
Imagine I'm sitting on a train with another train alongside, and they're both stationary. Then the other train moves off. How come I feel as if my train's moving backwards?
In 2008, the BBC reported on a whale that beached on a mudflat off the south coast of England. It had suffered kidney failure and faced being put down. Yet no one thought to call me and ask my opinion. Why not?
