here's a special medical case for harmonica MDs.
friend of mine works on boats. his harps tend to take gas from the salt air so i get them working again for him.
anyway, he brought me a couple of r. sleigh customs that were siezed up. they looked okay but when i plinked the reeds they didn't plink or pluck. they plonked.
i dragged a pen knife along the reed slots and walla!! a blade full of beeswax. apparently through heat and the phenomenom of capillary action, beeswax on the fixed end of the reeds ran forward and gummed up the works. this was the case on three of his harps.
i suggested he take his stock golden melodys on the boat to avoid this problem in the future.
weird huh?

That is indeed weird.
Clever title. Well written. A few clear uses of literary techniques (plink, pluck or plonk!)
8.5/10
well done. ---------- I could be bound by a nutshell and still count myself a king of infinite space

This is exactly why I quit sealing my harps with Beeswax. I use mineral oil now, and I'm happy with it. ---------- ------------------

what's weird is why anybody would leave a harp in the sun or anyplace where it could get overheated.

Buddha, on some boats there aren't places that aren't in the sun.
I'm getting sunburn just thinking about it! :)

when i repaired school band instruments i saw a lot worse than harps heated up on a navy ordinance detection boat.
plum seeds in a xylophone
and chicken thigh bones in an unplayable alto sax.

MP, my brother once heated a peach pit to a nice 98.6 degrees. My parents had to hand check his pooh until it passed.

try a harmonica case or gig bag. There are plenty of ways to take care of your instruments.
In over 20yrs I have never had a melting issue

perhaps i should have said ship rather than boat. the harps were in one of those foam lined hohner cases. (never did like those cases), i believe below deck or in the cabin because that would make sense.
personally, i don't care how people treat their instruments. i'll just make suggestions like, 'don't play so hard' or 'little hot out on the pacific. best not take stuff that's gonna melt'.
