Many people never pursue their dream; those who do sometimes get halfway and let the difficulties stop them. I think it's great that Brad has made this happen.

I utterly, totally, in all ways and then some agree. And the harmonicas look pretty good, too...
It's great to finally have a truly American made harmonica again. The last time there was o ne was in the mid 60's by Kratt. The big thing that has made it for many years too expensive to manufacture them here in the US are labor costs and material costs.
The fact that the individual reeds are held on to the reedplate using screws rather than rivets and can be easily replaced individually much like a guitar string rather than needing to buy either an entirely new harmonica or a set of reedplates (especially when all that's needed is just a single reed) is someting whose time has come and this is a first on a production line basis, tho these have have done by individuals and customizers (I have an old 3RT reed removal tool I got from an old chromatic customizer/retired tool and die maker Wilfred Doucette some 25 years ago and have done such things myself).
They're not gonna be spitting out literally 1000 harmonicas an hour, as a number of major manufacturers do so they can be a lot more careful on the production line than those other companies can. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
That Kratt was started by former Hohner employees prior to WWII is true. The Soul`s Voice is made by Seydel in Germany and the Delta Frost is made in Japan by Suzuki (tho I have heard rumors that they are now being made in China) and the easy way to tell if it`s made by Suzuki is to look at the blow reeds with the cover plates, and all Suzuki made harps have their reeds spot welded rather than riveted. LO`s are HQ`d in Belleview, WA, but made by Tombo in Japan, Huang is HQ`d in Farmingdale, NY, but made in China. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

I truly applaud his efforts in starting from scratch, i really do. And id love to have the opportunity to play one, own one. but... the price tag scares the wholly living shit out of me. for that price, i could harpwrench or buddha-tize myself and have it come with a guarantee, thats been backed by plenty (even some folk here). i suppose it boils down to a leap of faith. faith in the innovation, american spirit, pride, whatever... dammit i need some overtime too... ---------- Kyzer's Travels Kyzer's Artwork
Bravo, long may you live and prosper there at Harrison Harp.
I'm thinking maybe the pre '64 Winchester, maybe 1980s series NAD amplifiers, or perhaps one of those early classic Nikon 35s, maybe even the Vincent Black Shadow.
Ok, I'm sorry, thats pushing it maybe, but the best time to buy all of that stuff would have been before the legendary reputation had been sealed and it was new and everyone was complaining about the prices.
The best time to have gotten yourself a Joe Filisko harp tuned for overblows would have been back when Joe was just another chump making his first sales.
I dont have any experience with this new instrument but if I myself had an extra 180 laying around I would definetly put in for a B rad in D right away. So it costs more and you have to wait. And it never cost you any time or money to learn to play the damn thing in the first place?
There are multiple reasons why this company has the potential to be an important asset to all harp players out there. Could be that Harrison and crew are doing us all a big fat favor even if me or you who read this never so much as buy the T shirt.
I might be satisfied if it just only serves to wake up the sleepy heads over there at Hohner. HEY YOU!!! HOHNER!!! YOU THERE IN R AND D!!! ITS 2010 ALREADY AND WE ARE NOT SHOPPING FOR PARTY NOVELTIES WE NEED SOMETHING MORE CLOSELY RESEMBLING A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT!!!
Thanks Brad, Jason, Mike and all you there at the shop. I cant wait to get my Bb so hurry the hell up and take your time.
