Kudzu stated in his last post on the locked amp thread..
" neither are any of us allowed to start acting out in plainly insulting ways--against me, against Rick, against....oh, I don't know. Iceman, perhaps? Not allowed".
1. I've discovered that butting heads will help me see from a different perspective as long as I don't take it personally. It has helped me grow.
2. When I find myself the target of insults, I've learned to respond once and then let it go. No need to get emotional about words typed into a forum. Also, that last insult is left hanging and twisting in the breeze, allowing its odor to be experienced by all.
My advice:
Don't succumb to lastworditis. ---------- The Iceman
I think the best advice is: (yes, I've said it before) 'If you can't run with the big dogs, you'd better keep your ass on the porch' another good one that applies here: 'If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen' Other than that, let's break it down...Real BLUES? Let's see...Colorado? or the Mississippi Delta? yep, it's a no-brainer, folks. and now, back to your regularly scheduled fiasco...
Rick Davis is a good guy. He believes in, and has a lot of pride in, what he's promoting and building.
Do you know him personally? Why do you keep on with this aggressive stance toward him?
I live in Denver and I think the blues scene here is awful and getting worse, but as far as comparing Colorado to the Mississippi Delta, that's bizarre. Bash Colorado all you want, but I think you're really trying to bash Rick Davis....again.
When it comes to personal character I don't think you run with big dogs at all. Please raise yourself to a higher level.
@CWinter Well damn, you don't like me. No sleep for me tonight I guess. What I've seen from RD so far is a lot of crowing that he fails to back up when challenged to showcase his product. What? It's the favorite at Schmoe's Jam in Nowhere Colorado. Right. Real impressive. Chinese tube amp. Enough said.
Hey Mudhound, have you ever read Ricks Blog? the one where he tries many different amps for the harmonica and then modifies them? He knows what hes talking about about when it comes to amps. All hes trying to do is make a good affordable small harp amp for the players. I haven't bought a MM but I hear there pretty damn good for the price, so why don't you take your uncalled for, immature attitude somewhere else. PLEASE.
Please can we just stop this bickering before another thread gets locked. Insulting people on a forum achieves nothing and the reason everyone is here (hopefully) is to learn some new things about the instrument and it's music and to possibly pass on some of the knowledge we possess to others.
No, and I don't need to read his blog. I'll let the rest of you fanboys read it. He shows me nothing except that he's a blowhard (pun intended). Sorry, not impressed. Adam Gussow, pro internationally known blues harp player with how many CD's? Yeah, that's impressive. And oh yeah, last time I checked? This is his forum, not the Ricky forum. Last word? Not my call. Tell that to the one who started this thread. If you want this to die, then let it die. Keep stirring crap, I'll keep responding.
Mudhound, I'm going to check, but I'm pretty sure I issued you a warning in that other thread. You only have 54 posts, so maybe you don't understand the rules clearly enough. Knock it off or you won't be a forum member anymore. (Actually, you may want to hold your breath, because I'm still in deciding mode, but I'm kind of leaning towards tossing you.)
and you mr cold as ice, you may have got the best of me this time but remember... revenge is a dish best served cold..... ice cold. preferably in a dog dish, on the front porch, while you are sleeping.
----------
i get a lot of request when i play my harmonica "but i play it anyway"
Mudhound only acts like a dick behind his computer, but in real life he can't play harp worth a shit. I KNOW who he is. This will be my last post forever. Good bye Harpster happy sucking!
P.S. Adam gussow Sucks! He's not as famous as you think he his mudhound quit being Gussows shitty little fanboy!
GOODBYE Fuckers!

Iceman starts off with well reasoned advice aimed at level headedness, whereupon mudhound inexplicably wieghs in with a continued attack upon Rick Davis, and is then called out by cwinter and BluesJacketman (among others), until he is finally warned for a SECOND time by nate, which causes HumbleHarper to pre-emptively self-eject (in only his 4th post as an MBH member no less), while simultaneously sideswiping mudhound and kudzu on the way out and uttering these epic final two words "GOODBYE fuckers".
Does that about cover it?
(weirdest thread I've read here in a long time, .........and that's saying something)

When you make plans with a friend and they cancel at the last minute with what you consider to be a lame reason: You respond by doing which of the following:
Saying, “No problem. I understand.” And then going home and sulking to yourself thinking about how mad you are at them
Saying, “What the hell? We made plans. I can’t believe you are flaking on me! I never want to hang out with you again!” and hanging up the phone.
Saying, “I really wish that you would have told me in advance that you weren’t going to be able to make it. I’m not very happy with the fact that you are flaking at the last minute because it is very inconvenient for me, but it’s not the end of the world. If we make plans in the future, please let me know as soon as possible when you need to cancel.”
In response to the OP, a forum can be a wonderful place to share information and opinions about shared interests. Disagreements, butting heads, misunderstandings are all part of a forum, and while sometimes frustrating, can help the forum grow and maintain interest, and sometimes lead to greater understanding. We have all seen this over time in MBH.
Almost all of us value the forum for the contact with other players, harp information, and the fun of it. I have seen videos of a lot of good music that I would have not known of without this forum.
When a poster makes deliberate attempts to engage other members in angry exchanges by mudslinging, not for the purpose of sharing information but to rile up the members it is destructive to the forum.
When someone persists in that behavior after being cued that they are out of line, and continues to hound other members, they are showing their true purpose, creating discord, which is not in the best interest of the forum. This kind of online behavior is different from sincere disagreements or misunderstandings.
When we recognize that someone is deliberately spreading discord, it is best not to respond to that person and to tune out their noise and go play some harp.
Such a person who wants angry disagreements depends on others on the forum responding and escalating to keep the game going. Someone who finds validation and meaning in getting others angry is a troubled human being.
I think we all have the ability to recognize the difference in honest disagreements and inflammatory provocation. I think I will go blow some harp now. ----------
Hehe... Fantastic thread! Every time we have a crash and burn thread that gets locked some one have to start a new crash and burn thread. I would really like to know how humble harper is. Cristelle maybe? It's some one that really hates Mr gussow. That's for sure.
I think we all have the ability to recognize the difference in honest disagreements
i am not so sure of that, i had to bite my lip yesterday, it has been put to rest so i will not comment, however if "it" rears it's ugly head, i will say what i have to say, and it will not be pretty ----------
i get a lot of request when i play my harmonica "but i play it anyway"
Did anyone expect this thread to go different? Humbles flameout was epic.maybe we need an "airing of grievances" thread. There seems to be a lot of angst around here.
There is no need to air grievances. Quite the reverse. That thread was bizarre in that a number of members chimed in on a very shaky premise with irrelevant ill-humoured potshots. I know what I think
You guys think this is wild stuff.. Once way back in the early days of Harp-L a guy was literally threatening to take me out with a bullet. (In the end I don't think he could afford the airfare to NZ ;^ )
I take internet security too seriously. There are times I wish I could just share someone's name and info, but that would be unethical. That said, casual griefers beware, it's not impossible for people to figure out who you are, even without admin privileges. IP addresses may not be as private as you think. Fortunately, most of the time we don't even care.
So we wave goodbye to Humbleharper and Mudhound and a couple of warnings go out in the email. Hopefully that ends this. ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer (A list of all sorts of useful threads)
"Once way back in the early days of Harp-L a guy was literally threatening to take me out with a bullet. (In the end I don't think he could afford the airfare to NZ ;^ )"
Wow! That's intense! Was it over something really important like 2 draw vs. 3 blow?
Junior High is over whinebags, get onto what matters most, the blues, the harp and what we are all supposed to be here for. Can,t we all just get along and enjoy this forum for what it is and what it has to offer,IF Not Leave! Some of you dudes are a joke and I can totally understand why the women have left.(and some of them are alot better players) than you whiney C,s.I,ve been on this forum for enough yrs and have never read so many insults in all of my time on here. Why don,t you whiners go onto Harp-l and air out your bloody C,s and see where that will get you."No forum for old whiney men" is what me thinks.Oh,and by the way,I,m so sorry if I offended anyone.
But if everyone would just IGNORE someone that is looking for an argument, it would blow over quick. It's no wonder this forum gets so many locked threads.
I'll say this: I like a good disagreement, if it doesn't get disagreeable. The guys I respect and pay attention to are the ones who are even and level no matter which "side" of an idea or issue we fall on. The ones who get the personality thing going show their true agenda every time. Served schmerved. ---------- http://www.reverbnation.com/jawboneandjolene
eharp, we don't really get that many locked threads. I think that was just the second one this year, and the other one I made a borderline call because I saw rumbling. There is a good chance a nudge might have got it back on track but I was playing it safe. Two locks and we even made it past the Ides of March without anyone killing each other on the forum.
Yeah, not too many locked threads, but that was pretty bad. Lost a good contributor and possibly more than 1.
Sure, the 2 who are deleted were blatantly asking for it...and I guess I understand 'lightly moderated', but anyone who reads the thread will see... Unless it's edited...can a post in a locked thread be edited?
We can lock and unlock threads. I don't know if a member can edit their post in a locked thread. People who have been kicked off the forum can't, of course.
The real power of a thread lock is it sinks since it doesn't get bumped back up. As a rule, except for spammers, or fixing a broken piece of HTML, I don't touch anyone's posts. When I edit one of my own posts I write edit:. In another lifetime I had thoughts of being a journalist, and my take away from that is you leave the primary sources alone, with all their warts, and say your piece about it.
Hello fellow harpers-- First thing, yes, it would seem you can edit your posts in a locked thread--I just did it on the amp thread. Secondly, it's worth remembering that we share the ability to produce music--and that is a powerful thing; music puts people in a state, and this enables you to tap into resources unavailable to most folks. Best to remember that, and try to draw good energy to yourself. This is not voodoo, ok maybe that's as good a name for it as any. Thirdly, as the old Apache Indian saying goes, "Great Spirit, save me from judging a man until I have walked a mile in his moccasins." http://www.angelfire.com/ab7/larkyn/quotes.html
