Anyone have and willing to part with circuitry diagram with specs of a proven harp amp that I can build for myself in SA. Everyone here a bit clueless on what's required.

What size on a amp do you want?
How many Watts?

@amenym. Probably 5-10 watts, smallish to transport easily for small to medium size gigs, 8-10ins speakerwith feed out to pa or 2nd speaker.

Rocky Harpoon, you are going to need something bigger thatn 10w to play gigs.

The Lone Wolf 6L6SE seems to be a very good option, is a harp amp, not a guitar amp. I guess is 12w or so.

a 12w amp whit a 2x10 would be a fine gig amp.

Here is one I am looking at but not sure how it will work with a harp.

Would not a 10 watt amp with a good 10ins speaker work for gigs if fed out to the PA system?
@Rick what are main differences between the two Lone Wolf amps, in sound performance, tone , quality etc. which do you prefer.
Thanks for all the input guys, appreciated.

the LW 6L6 amp sound as a real old amp and have a tone to die for but do not have volume enough. The 3x 6V6 have cut through as a champ on steroids.

I have used a 2 x 6V6 on gigs.
It works and you hear yourself but have to mic it out in the PA.
Mic is better than a line out in most amps. The amp distorsion do not sound good in a PA.

Feeding a harp amp to the PA system ensures that the AUDIENCE can hear you (assuming you have a full time sound guy who is paying attention.) It does NOT mean YOU can hear you. With a full electric band hearing yourself on stage can be a real problem. Adding your signal to the PA's monitors can help but can also create a serious feedback problem. The bigger the amp, the less of an issue this is.

If you want to hear yourself at a typical jam where there frequently is no sound guy at all - you're going to need 35-50W and plenty of speaker.

PEOPLE, STOP!

Every time someone brings up amplification people start suggesting things without enough information.

Small to medium sized gigs ain't enough info. What are the rooms like? PA's? Audience size? Genre? Volume of others? Etc?

Rick, I have no idea if they were good amps, or what they were called, (I doubt they would be good harp amps- they were large) but I saw a clever amp that had a second speaker built into a top corner aimed back at the performers- basically a built in monitor.

All other things equal, that, or a wireless monitor would be what I'd want for stage volume. I really prefer a fairly quiet stage. If the audience wants it loud, fine, but can't we figure out a way to keep the stage volume down? IF, and it's a big if, if you can get your band to mutually disarm, I'm all for playing through the PA, even if it means miking my amp.

(I use a questionable harp amp though. It's a little Park G10R, but if I play with the knobs enough it works.)

When I mention it in these amp threads, everyone is nice enough not to point and laugh though. :)

Thanks to all for input an comments. Must say that when I took up the up the harp and finally decided to get serious I didn't realise that I'd be seeking after the holy grail, all good though and there are also many ways to get there which makes it challenging. How boring if we all sounded the same (and wanted to)and there was only one road to travel. I always remember the movie "The Glenn Miller story" in which it said (true or not) that he was seeking that special sound of his own and only found it when the brass section kicked in.
