Somewhere along the line I picked up a nice set of Pre-MS Meisterklasse reed plates (Key of D). I made a custom comb for it but then discovered that I don’t have a set of covers that will fit. I recently picked up some MS Meisterklasse covers but they don’t fit. Special 20 covers line up pretty good but the screws get in the way and won’t let the covers sit flush on the reed plates. It needs the full length covers in order to clear the screws. I suppose I could remove a couple of the screws on the ends and make SP20 covers work but I would rather not.

Does anyone have a set of the Pre-MS Meisterklasse covers that they would be willing to sell me?

Or, if you don’t want to part with your covers, would you be interested in buying the reed plates and comb from me? It seems a shame to have a nice set of reed plates go to waste.

Thanks,
Tom

He may be on to something with the HSD covers there Tom. Might Seydel Session plates also be a possibility?

Thanks guys. I've had a couple of guys contact me off list who have, or at least think they have, a set of the Pre MS covers. Hawkeye - I tried a set of the Session Steel covers. It's a no go but thanks for the suggestion.

1847 - would you be kind enough to clarify your offer? Are you saying you want the Meisterklasse reed plates and comb? As for the Evanwood comb, there was a guy named Henry Harmonica that was looking for one a while ago on MBH. Henry - are you out there listening?

i just spent all my lunch money on new harmonicas
so not really interested at this time buying anymore
i would be willing to trade a comparable comb and reed plate set for the hohner.

i use to really really like the the 580 hohner
i like the size the weight and the over all feel
and playability.
but it is at the end of the day a marine band.

You might wanna hang on to it, Tom, because at SPAH last year, Hohner was telling people that the old style Meisterklasse model is coming back. Whether or not it will have the same cover plate screw pattern I don't know. My suggestion was that they make them interchangeable with the Crossover, so if you wanted full-length Meisterklasse covers on your Crossover you could easily do that. Here's a pic for you, from an Ebay auction, shakeylee - best I could do:

Tom, I would think that those stock Sub30 coverplates would fit.

You can use Special 20 covers with no problem on the original Meisterklasse. The four screws on the sides are not needed if you are using a flat comb. I actually prefer the sound over full-length covers.

Hohnershop currently has original Meisterklasse plates in four keys available (2015/01/19):

I was just looking for a pic of the old Meisterklasse covers, and wouldn't you know it, google led me home! Unfortunately all the old links are broken. :(
