For those who would like to busk in more intimate venues without having to lug loads of gear around.

That's great, Tooka. Gives you the wherewithal to change locations quickly and as often as necessary, just like fishing. Nice harp work, too.

Exactly, you can be a wandering mistrel and follow the crowd. Thanks.

Good work, Tooka. I really want to see video of you on the street with this rig. If you wear a balaclava it might complete the guerilla ensemble. :)

Thanks Stan.

Thanks BW. I'm waiting for the summer. Got the Olympics near me then. Want to combine selling original english watercolours with the busking.

Hi Tooka...good thinking batman. One question I'd like to ask. What was the volume control setting during the video? It sounded great in your house but would it be loud enough for busking in a busy London street?

Hi Oisin, it would get lost in a busy London Street but then again so would the harp. That's why I mentioned "more intimate venues", maybe a shopping mall, park etc. There are fairly quiet streets in London too though where you don't get the constant noise of traffic etc.

Sorry Tooka...as usual I didn't read your post properly. I think it's a great idea though. It would sound great in an underpass or a tube walkway.

You sounded good on that track...I was praying you'd get the harp out of the box in time!!

Have you ever thought of ways to transfer images of your watercolors to harmonicas? I thought about doing some decoupage sort of stuff on a cover and then shellacking it, but I never got around to it. (My dream was, and still is, to have harmonicas that look like different candy bars, but your watercolors would look awesome on them too!)

Hey! Yeah, that's pretty slick! Certainly it would work for quiet areas, and also folks would be like "Wow! That guy is making his harmonica sound like a FULL BAND!" ;)

Great playing too!

@Nate:
Please don't add artwork to your cover plates. It will just start a long running argument about how it affects tone.

Lol! Well played Easy! It's easy to remember how it impacts tone though- if it's applied smoothly it makes the harp sound flat. If it's applied more '3D' it makes the harp sharp. If you want it to sound more bright, use glow in the dark paints and if you want it to sound warm fire glaze it. If you want it to be loud, try pink polka dots with leopard print. :)

So then do y'all recon my harps will sound flat and darker if I spray paint 'em matt black? And will the faux stone paint make 'em sound stoned or make 'em rock?

Nice set-up Tooka--and nice playing!

This makes me wonder if it would work to use one of those DanElectro mini amps with a "Y" cord--with the ipod being one input and a Hi-Z mic into the other--to amplify the harp. Has anybody tried this?

Thanks Guys. Nate, been thinking about your quest for a candy bar harp. Maybe if you can't get the harp to look like a candy bar, have you thought of just having a candy bar harp box. It shouldn't be too difficult to make a box and cover it nicely in a candy bar wrapper. Just a thought.
