just out of curiosity, and answer honestly now, how many of you actually read entire posts/comments before replying to them and how many of you sometimes just skim someones post and then reply?

Very good question.
I try to always read someone's posts/comments entirely if I feel the urge to comment on something in a thread. However I like most others (I suspect) are guilty of sometimes not doing so.

I do try to read the original post(OP) at the top of the thread, and sometimes am guilty of not reading the responses when I comment on the OP. Other times, a certain comment a ways down a thread will catch my eye, and I will comment on IT, which may or may not be in line with the subject of the OP. ---------- Todd, the conservatively liberal moderate of the moderators Eudora and Deep Soul

I skim through a lot of stuff on the forum BUT if I decide to reply I make sure I read everything, and before posting I open a new window to see what has transpired with the thread, in case my comments have become redundant or I need to add something. After posting, I re-check for typos etc. ---------- Ozark Rich

I think a forum poll is a good idea.

If I'm going to make a comment I try to make sure I've read everything fairly carefully. I find lately I skip over a lot of the topics. I can't watch the youtube entries so that cuts out about a half. ---------- If it ain't got harp - it ain't really blues!!!!

I try to read everything in a thread I'm posting on. If I'm coming back to it later I'll reread the top post and skip down to my last post, figuring that I've already read everything down to there. I suppose I might miss some posts that cross in the ether. Sometimes in REAAAALLY long threads I'll skim to see if something has been covered before posting. I read a lot of threads and then don't have anything useful to add. If I've skimmed something I'll stop and reread everything if it looks like there is an argument going on, so I don't accidentally make things worse.

Well with this one I read the first post and sort of skimmed through the rest. My reply here came without any hesitation.
It's much the same but can differ dependent on the topic. I'm sort of a broad brush type that sometimes has a tendency to shoot from the hip. I have had occasions to bite my lip. I'm getting better.....I think!
Its a fast moving forum and I find it impossible to read the majority of posts.

I'll read most all of the thread pretty well mostly. Maybe not sometimes if it's several pages long. If it's like 5 or more pages long I may be commenting only on the first or last couple of pages. ---------- It's MUSIC, not just complicated noise.

I usually post to the origional post. I find sometimes it can be confusing as some may think it Is in statement to a later post. Sometimes when you make a post 4 posts are made at the same time, or someone deletes the post you were responding to right after you post it.
But that's why it's HARD to have an conversation in a forum.
Maybe that's why the sensless or mindless comedic posts are frequently made.
