OOOOooooo.... I don't know what it does, but I want one!
Seriously though, I think there should be a program for 'entabulating'. Bend-o-meter already knows what holes you are playing. There is software that can pull certain instruments out of a mixed track. Whey can't these technologies be put together to tab music for us? I play mostly by ear, but I like the idea of tabbing music out for people, just not the practice of playing a couple notes, picking up a pencil, figuring out what hole I'm playing (since I really do it by ear I don't always know what hole I'm on), writing it down and then playing the next bit, or sometimes backtracking because I have a hard time picking tunes up in the middle sometimes.
Yeah, that's neat, but it's not instant tabs. The hard parts of the programing are already done. The fact that they can pull an instrument out of a mix is pretty fancy programming. Then there are programs that can figure out what note you are playing. Not as fancy, but still some technical knowhow. I used to use a plug-in for WMP that figured out what key a song is in. Getting that last little step, turning that information into printable tab, for someone who knew how to program and had access to the other stuff (and proper permission to use it without running afoul of the DMCA) sounds like an afternoon project. Of course, getting those permissions could be the real hard part.
