I put OT in the subject line just in case discussing the forum is considered OT. I would also add that I am fully aware that there are people who don't care what I've learned and I encourage you to pour out any hatred, dislike, disdain, etc... that you may have for this post. The following are in no particular order except #1. I note that the subject line should be more accurately titled "Some things I've learned since I discovered Kudzurunner's YouTube Channel."
1) I can play blues harmonica. I love the blues. The blues are more than just music. The blues are vast. I know where the blues came from. You don't have to be good to play the blues.
2) I'm pretty much a mental midget. While I can destroy just about everybody I personally know in Jeopardy, in the big scheme of things, I'm pretty dumb.(psych...I've known this for a long time)
3) My harmonica skills are extremely weak. Although I can play well enough that some people think I'm good, including people other than my mother and my sons.
4) My punctuation is not good. I think I over use commas a lot. 5)KZR is a brilliant writer. imo
6)It's easy to make a virtual fool of yourself and come across as an idiot.
7) There are a lot of very smart and talented people on this forum.
8) Ozark Rich used to be a turkey farmer.
9) Nacoran has made more posts here than anyone else.
10) I'll probably never get a lot better as a player. I'll never learn the technical stuff about the notes, the scales, all that important stuff.
11) I want to convey feeling when I play. I want to bend the notes to just the right pitch that makes the listener feel it on a song like "The Thrill Is Gone" or "Waiting For Your Call". I want to play harp the way BB King plays guitar.
12) DiggsBlues seems like a really cool dude.
13) I love Spontobeat. I think it's great art. Who says songs have to rhyme. Walter Tore is a great musician. imo
14) Todd Greene will try to get you thrown out of here if you step out of line.
15) There are great harmonica players right here in my area. Todd Parrot lives near hear.
16) Jason Ricci is one of the greatest harmonica players that ever lived. imo
17) What "gussing" is.
OK, I'll shut up now. My medication is wearing off, plus Big things are happening in the world. I will add a #18 which is one thing I have not learned that I would really like to know. Of course there is only one person who could possibly respond to this and even he may not know the answer. I consider it the "tap root" question.
18) Why did Mr. Magee insist on being called Satan ?

"You don't have to be good to play the blues."
I think a lot of people are going to weigh in on that one....and i'm guessing it will not be to agree.

"I want to convey feeling when I play."
This is what it's all about. Saying things through music that can't be expressed in words but that other people understand. IMHO, all the rest of it (scales, modes, theory, techniques, etc., etc.) are just means to this end.

I think by a long shot, but I only have the most posts because Jon Sparrow disappeared and stopped posting. WoW is, if the rumors are correct, a powerful drug! I get self-conscious about all my posts sometimes. I have too much free time and know I tend to fixate on things sometimes. Sometimes I jokingly think about it as the baseball hit's leaders. (Baseball stats are another thing I've obsessed over in my life.) So, let's see, that means I'm chasing down Hank Aaron at 3771 for third place.
Buddha had over 2000 posts (RIP) despite being pretty busy in his harp shop. I think Jon had over 2000. Adam has 2000 plus, plus all his videos. I figure a video made by you is worth 10 posts, and an audio worth 5. That puts Adam way out in front with all his awesome instructional videos.
Or maybe videos should be counted as Home Runs (only triples if you use a static image through the whole thing, and audio as doubles.
I like to mix up my posts:
2 Parts sharing what I've learned here 1 Part silly comments, hopefully on topic 2 Parts finding links- I should have been a librarian; it drives some people nuts but I actually love it. 1 Part sharing things that make me scratch my head. 1 Part helping people with HTML/posting issues 1 Part helping keep the peace. 2 Parts asking for help 3 Parts commenting on all the great videos 7 Parts posting Circle of Fifths.
Of course the steroids help too.
As for #18, you could read the book!

Ncpacemaker: You can borrow it from the library.
You can also buy "Word on the Street" and listen to the last track, an interview on NPR. Then again, you may end up more confused....
