-some time ago i contacted chris off line asking about his custom harps.

he gave me some info and i didn't follow up because i was broke.(still am)

after a few weeks went by i e-mailed him and explained that my girlfriend has a very aggressive form of leukemia and i couldn't justify the cost of getting a harp from him.

i thought that was the end of it. but.....chris e-mailed me back and offered to build me a harp for free if i sent him a new 1896!! HOW COOL IS THAT!!

i'll paraphrase the e-mail i got from him.

"it would be an honor for me to build a harp for you and spread a little happiness" also, "my first priority is service to others".

IS THIS A COOL GUY OR WHAT?

right now i'm in LA living out of a hospital room. been doing that for a couple of months. my girlfriend just had a bone marrow transplant and everything is very touch and go. after two more months we may be able to go back home to hawaii.

the other thing to look forward to is my first custom harp by a master builder. a Bb MB 1896. ---------THANK YOU CHRIS!!!!

I do hope yor girlfriends treatment is a success MP and you are both home in Hawaii soon.

Chris is an enigma. After watching his videos and reading his posts on here I came to the conclusion that although he wants people to think he's a Rottweiler I think he's a soppy old Cocker Spaniel really.

I'd better go before he gets online.

My best hopes for your girlfriend, MP.

That thing about Chris is quite a moving little story. I've wrangled with him on here in the past, and written to him off-forum about the incident. He was, and is, a gentleman. He's just very frank, and a lot of people find it hard to swallow.

MP, hope your girlfriend is ok. I get mad at Buddha sometimes, but he certainly has his moments. :)

MP: prayers your way.
I spoke with Chris too and he's a great guy.
Forum "communication" is tricky business. I've
had to do a lot of it professionally and have learned
some things the hard way. His approach is fine but
you have to take it for what it is worth, which is often a
considerable amount.

all thanks guys,
my girlfriend is incredibly brave and suffers greatly. hopefully her life has been extended.

all of us have others sides. for instance, i don't really work for the yakuza. i just say that because i don't think being a super hero is enough. besides, most people have to google semiotics only to find a boring definition.

MP, all prayers and good thoughts for your girlfriend. My mom was supposed to die on the operating table (final stage endometrial cancer), and when she didn't, they gave her about a month. That was in February 1981... she's still with us. I'll be hoping for a similar result for your girlfriend.

Buddha is a class act and a standup guy. He's blunt. Not a problem for me.

MP, I will include you and your gf in my prayers as well.

As for Buddha, he doesn't mince words, but he's ok...for a ViQueens fan.

-spent all day in LAX yeaterday as plane back home to hawaii was delayed 7 hours. girlfriend through with bone marrow transplant. was 4+ months of exile and torture and indignities visited upon her. and i love med science. can't beat it.
today i find buddha was kicked off forum.
to boot, buddha died, probably while we did crossword puzzles to pass the time.

his death seems as irracible, iconoclastic, unreasonable and just plain out of the blue as his posts and the few e-mails i've-shared with him. no, we weren't friends. just people. he never finished the MB 1896 i sent him sept. last. i've no physical momento, but i'll remember him as i remember- those of us who are rather singular. those of talent ingenious, tinctured with madness, childlike believers in what could be. in how we'd like the world to be, and..it never is.-------
