I really think it is very bad. No tone, no rhythm, no soul. Pointless noise.

I really don't understand what you're looking for here Frank?

I mean you are saying "I have been playing harp for about two or three weeks and here is a little tune I am working on".

I just don't understand why anybody would want to air the beginnings of learning to play an instrument to the world wide web without any real purpose.

Also the bit about writing songs in the bathroom and all the specifics is odd and crude.

The atmosphere at this forum is getting worse by the day. It has become one of the most unpleasant forums on the web. Does Adam deserve this?

Yogi, play nice. Frank has been playing for a couple weeks. It's actually kind of catchy. It's rough though. Frank, you might want to work on your cupping some. It will help you keep your tone more even. Helix, everyone has their personal woodshed! As for posting the beginnings, there are tons of reasons... from being able to look back and see how far you have come, to looking back for a sense of humility when you give newcomers advice, to getting valuable early advice... oh, I'm supposed to use my mouth!

That said, personally, I'd never play harmonica in the bathroom. My OCD is the germ variety, with a touch of counting sets, but I could never get over the germ thing enough to play in the bathroom.

Wow! I have heard, on this forum, worse playing that has gotten nothing but praise. Maybe yogi and Helix could offer constructive criticism, even though Frank didn't ask for any

@Frank. let me be the first to WELCOME you to MBH

It appears that you have ruffled a few feathers around here. We really are not bad people. Maybe starting over would be a good Idea. Maybe a thread introducing yourself and some of your interests. I would like to know what you want out of this forum. In one thread you said you are not serious about learning and don't want our advice and in another thread you say you are working on some of Adams lessons. Are you here to learn?

Also, It is quite unusual for such a new member to rack up so many posts in such a short time. There is no limits on the number of posts but usually those who post the most have the most to offer. As a teacher, I often see that kid that always has something to say...that child is usually not the most attentive listener or learner in the class. In fact he misses quite a bit because he is to busy talking.

Also, when you post a sample of playing, you are usually gong to get HONEST feedback and as you can see sometimes it is brutal. I tell my Kindergardeners "I'm not your Mamma, I don't have to tell you that you did a good job". Anyway If you don't want feedback be sure to let us know.

As you have found out in the past, If you ask for advice you will get it abundance. When 10 people tell you that same thing then it is usually good advice. If you don't like like the advice, a simple "Thanks for your Help guys" is usually better than justifying why you don't want to listen.

Just some helpful advice to make your visits here a little less rough Frank.

@everyone else. I know he kind of crash landed here, but I'm with Nacoran. lets be the nice guys we claim to be and give the guy a chance.

Harmonica: Five minutes to play, a lifetime to master.

Pretty good for a beginner.

A couple more things to help you out Frank. I find it awkward to link to another forum like Harmony-central. We usually like to keep out discussions in-house. Stays less confusing. And you might try posting your playing on You-Tube rather than having to download an mp3 file. Since you use a Mac you know that, that file goes strait to i-tunes and then to my i-pod and then to my eardrums during my morning run. not fun.

Again, not trying to beat you up, just trying to help you fit in.

Captin, nothing in this thread insulted anyone. He just said, 'here goes' and played something. That's exactly the sort of thing this forum needs, although Frank, please make it a little easier by posting the mp3 here, instead of over on another site. If you need help with that, just under the forum creed there is a link for the Forum How-To. It will show you the HTML you need. If you cut and paste the link it's actually really easy. And I'm pretty sure I said it before, but if I didn't, welcome to the forum.

You got a little bend there right at the end Frank. Keep it up man you can only get better. I couldn't play a rythym like that when I first began playing.

It's crude and rudimemtary but it's a great start. And most of all you're enjoying yourself.

Well yeah with a bit of work I reckon you could have a number one there Frank but seeing as you wrote it on the john you'll probably just end up with a number two on your hands.

Is that avatar a picture of you on Harmony-central? You look familiar.

Good luck with the butterflies and caterpillar song.

Interesting, sounds like a good first few weeks. Sounds like you got your single notes working.

And yeah, I think we need more of everybody's playing and constructive comments and criticism on this forum and less 'how bout this harp', 'how bout this amp' stuff.
