Play your harps after eating seafood, and then play them the next day...

Unless you are planning to soak them in cocktail sauce. Then they are more responsive and tasty too...

...especially sashimi. At least cooked seafood has bypassed the whole rotting phase...

Hah,

great little rule...personally, I never pick up the harps after a meal of any kind without the obligatory dental hygiene effort...the thought of any food particles or odors entering the harp just grosses me out.....but that's just me.

I recognize that might kill a certain amount of spontaneous playing and it's not always possible to be that fastidious, but it's the way i am (i know everyone is probably thinking OCD, but trust me, you saw my apartment you'd know that's the last thing I am).

anyway i've actually altered my schedule to accomodate this.... as in eating at home as opposed to at the bar on a gig/open mike night to account for proper post meal hygiene before playing.

on second thought, maybe i am a little OCD.

I'm jealous of the guitar players...........washing your hands is easy.

@Honkin' On Bobo --- Actually, that is a VERY good idea because it only takes a single tiny partical of food to clog a reed up in a big way.

There was a poster on another harp forum that would actually make sure he brushed his teeth and rinsed his mouth out completely before getting on the stage.

One thing guitar players need to build up for playing is calluses.

I'm waiting for Buzadero's stripper story again. :)

I make sure I at least rinse my mouth with water.
