Since I've just sent this link out to those on my mailing list as part of a monthly newsletter, I thought it only fair to share with the members of this forum. Here's a free three-minute clip giving you HQ mp3 tastes of four cuts on my forthcoming album, KICK AND STOMP. The cuts are "Every Day I Have the Blues," "Buford Chapel Breakdown" (which some will recognize as the melody to "Not a Shuffle Blues"), "Crossroads Blues," and "The Entertainer."

http://www.tradebit.com/layouts/choose-a-mirror.php?fileid=105829527

These are very brief samples from the introductions to the four songs, with a bit of soloing from "Crossroads" thrown in. They'll give you some sense of the overall album sound: the mix of harp, percussion, and vocals; the tone of the harp, etc. No overdubs, obviously, and no other musicians. This is live, in-studio stuff.

I'll be happy to answer any and all questions about how we created this sound, but not until I've released the full album. This is nothing more than a teaser: 3:00 out of a 70-minute album.

I intend to get it, in CD format, so I can have something tangible. Also, I intend to rip it off almost entirely. thank you...

I don't know the exact date of the release, because there are still a few things I need to take care of and I know THIS crowd! If you give a date, you damned well better hold to it; otherwise you become the B-Radical: doomed to disappoint those primed to be disappointed (and, at this point, other more patient types). Release dates can bite you in the butt. So I'll just be coy: soon!

I won't be selling it in CD form right away, although I'll certainly do that at some point. Actually, let me correct that: within a month of its release as a download, I'll have hard-copy CDs for sale at my gigs; I haven't yet decided if I want to sell CDs via mail order to the general public. I may let CD Baby do that. But I WILL be selling both mp3s (60 mb for the whole album) and the high-quality WAV files (500 mb) that you'd get on a regular CD. I also plan eventually to make it available on iTunes, Tunecore, etc. CDs and those official channels require paperwork (mechanical licenses), printed liner notes, etc., and all that stuff slows down the process.

@Kyser: I'm going to facilitate the ripoffs, actually. Over the next several months, I'm going to introduce MBH lessons on many of the songs. Tabbing out my own playing isn't as easy as you think. I can hear and reproduce what I'm doing, but notating the time--especially when something swings hard, a little ahead of the beat--is tricky.

You may be sure that the first thing I'll do after putting the entire album up for sale on Tradebit is make an a*terisked announcement on this forum.

I like this.
Much kudos for the Entertainer, I think it's great to show people that Harp isn't just pure blues. I have been trying to play it on the Chrom and while I can play the first two sections, the third one elludes me as the piano score I am playing from doesn't show the melody line clearly. I am afraid to say though that I think there are a couple of just slightly 'off' notes (either not hit cleanly or off pitch) that spoil it for me. Maybe hearing the full tune would put it in persective with the rest of the arrangement.
