This was from the benefit we played Friday night here in New Orleans. We play the song in D;I'm in 3rd on a C harp. More vids on Youtube;I'm using an incredibly slow computer, or I would load more.

nice 3rd pos. todd! you have a good sense of time. maybe cuz you live in NO. ---------- MP hibachi cook for the yakuza doctor of semiotics superhero emeritus
Thanks very much, MP. I thought the timing was because I was born a poor black child...wait, no-that was Steve Martin in The Jerk. I do know the difference between s*&% and Shinola, though.
I actually haven't even seen this vid or any of the others from Friday-my wife's out of town for two weeks with our only working computer, and all the fun stuff is blocked at work(except for MBH). We also played Fever, which I mostly lay off during the song, but throw in a 3rd position solo. ----------

Thanks! Oh yes, it was fun, although EXTREMELY hot onstage. That was our first official gig as a band. Oh, and there was a burlesque act after us... Shanester, drop me an email(check my profile) and I will send a photo link...There's kiddos on this site.

I never set out to purposely play that song in 3rd. I've been playing it for many years, and it's one where I just picked out the melody and later found out that I was playing it in 3rd. And thanks for the kind words! ----------

That would be the 2005 Miss Arkansas, the former Eudora Mosby...but you'll never hear that from her. Killer voice and great personality. Thanks, Oisin ----------

woulda shoulda coulda being what it is, I would have used some delay, and turned my treble cut off a little bit...I have the audio from the board, which has got to be the best board dump recording I've ever heard from any band I've ever been in. The harp was REAL dry on there. I heard the heavy effects the soundman was throwing around and decided to go in dry. Oh well...I still got a cd that's good enough to make a demo from on our very first outing, and some decent video footage to boot. Oh, and I had fun and got to see a burlesque show! :-)
I could see a vision of BarBQ Bob at one point, shaking his finger at me, when I was playing with a wet mouth(it was friggin' HOT in there)and one of my solos has several muted notes because of it. ----------

I'm jealous because I've been wanting to play this tune with a band for some time now. I've been working on it in 2nd pos instead, but have tried it in 3rd. I thought your rendition in 3rd worked quite nicely.
Your singer has a great voice and the band sounded good. I'd LOVE to hear you guys do it again with more practice and about 1/3 of the speed so it can really groove. I favorited a particular version on youtube and the tune absolutely sizzles when it's played slower. Thanks for sharing!
I have tried third position like playing a G harp in Am and 4d and 1d work well as root notes and 6d is a good wailing Vcord note jon gindick said in his book that 2d or 3d must be bent or will clash does not seem to be the case when I try it
I'm sure Buddha and a few others could whip this song out successfully in a few other positions, but I picked out the melody and the chords and harmonies to it long before I realized what position I was playing it in, and it just so happened to be third. I have messed with it in second and it wasn't fluid at all. ----------
