I thought the sax took the cake until I saw the flute. Can you imagine the costs of these specialty instruments?? and then if you had it customized.......

OddMusic.com has a great list of weird instruments. If I was a little more mechanical, I have some ideas of my own. I like the sound of an ocarina. It works differently than a lot of other instruments. Calculating the size of the chamber is more complicated than something 'simple' like a flute. That said, I'd love to figure out a way to may a harmonica shaped ocarina that you could play if you knew how to play harmonica.

I'd like to put a slide on the BACK of a harmonica. The idea is that when you are cupping a microphone it's hard to create a wah sound, and maybe, if you got it adjusted right you could make an acoustic button wah.

I want Richter tuned pan pipes!

I want a mouth harp mounted on my harmonica, tuned to the same key.

And I want balloons.

William Kincaid had a platinum flute by Powell for the 1939 World's Fair.
Famous instrument.

I play a Getzen Bass/Baritone bugle at times. It gets alot of comment.
