@Ev360: Since you've got a quick answer for everything, I'm going to go slightly off-topic and ask you a question: There's a member of this forum named Drew who, unlike his peers, refused to divulge his last name when he registered for this forum. He preferred to remain something of a mystery--the better to enable his trollism, I suspect, although I can't be sure. If you were in my shoes, would you allow him to remain a member? I always try to do the right thing.

@EV360: In answer to your laughable suggestion above re: me and Jason Ricci: I haven't spoken or exchanged emails with Jason in months. I just happen to admire his playing.
Do the right thing Adam-I've known you since the NYC days. I grew up with Mason Casey -I remember running all over the lower east side, 3rd avenue and Central and Washington Square Park-we did not always do the right thing back in the day-times change-you mature, grow a certain sense of respect and responsibility. So I ask you Adam-why not do the right thing now?.
Adam - do whatever you think is right. It's your board.
I'll only think less of you if you don't apply the same standards to me that you apply (or, actually, don't seem to apply) to others around here. I know there are many others I'm in contact with here who will also be interested.
By the way, I seriously don't get why my using a screen name is some kind of issue. I can see that I'm not alone. So what's that all about? You can always email me if you have any concerns.
As an aside, Thomas F: please show some self-respect. Your pleading for Adam to fight your fights for you is pathetic. I can see you're still smarting because I had to point out some history to you on Harp-L half a year ago. At least you've stopped sending me the hysterical emails and PMs to my Youtube account.
@ Sheriff Bob--Is there some kind of name verification process? I mean, how do you know any of us are who we say we are? Some may have a need to simply keep their professional life and "harmonica life" seperated, for the good of the profession. Just a thought.
Personally I love Mr EV's fiesty nature, this forum could get pretty bland if it were nothing but a bunch of PC modern blues harmonica players.
I've enjoyed this thread, but without Drew and JoeL, it's just a bunch of guys stroking JR's ego. What fun is that?

Ah-feeling guilty as presumed,eh Drew. I never would ask anyone to fight for me-that's just a fact of growing up in NYC. Self respect has nothing to do with it-I only asked Adam to do the right thing-I never asked him to remove anyone from this forum. Like Adam said-trolling is the issue here. Not self respect-not hysteria-not even acting pathetic.

I'm die hard into the traditional stuff and not heavily into Jasons music, but that being said, I think Jason deserves all the accolades and press He can get. He reminds Me of Django Reinhardt in that it sometimes sounds like He's going to explode trying to get His point across, not afraid to get scrappy/take chances, but can also completely immerse Himself in a "ballad/melodic" state of mind.
Not to mention He's a very interesting character as a person in the blues/skateboarding community(wearing His heart on His sleeve in His beliefs/lifestyle).
I think He's still digging in as a player as well.
I am very much a traditionalist when it comes to blues and many players I admire are long gone from this world but jason ricci is one bad ass player and has absolutely nothing to prove to me and hope he comes to hch 2011
Jason is a bad ass mo fo and is in my mind the quintessential MODERN BLUES HARMONICA player. He really is our Jimmy Hendrix of harp.
I had the great fortune to see him in Shenandoah Iowa in the middle of a snow storm that dumped twelve inches of snow in 5 hours. Jason and the New Blood risked life and limb to play a backup gig at this little bar in front of me, my wife, a buddy of mine who I drug along and maybe 4 or 5 locals. When talking to him between sets he told us he had a screaming migraine. Let me bear witness right here - he played like he was playing for 10,000 people - and he tore that shit up. I grew up and lived a great deal of my adult life in Chicago and have the good fortune to see many a great and legendary harmonica player, but I have never seen anything that compared to the show Jason gave that night. Jason Ricci has my vote as one of the best harmonica players alive today.
Right on!! Jason Ricci HCH 2011.

I agree with what people say about the difference of live performance and recordings. You really can't have the same view on a performance on the video. It is easy to say that "well, the playing in that and that part was such and such, but in those parts it was taht and that". That's because you can analyze it from the videos. When you see it live the moment is LIVE. The whole atmosphere is present, the audience, the swithces between the songs, the acoustics, guy next to you screaming drunken comments, the lady in the corner, the universe itself.
I'm sure I'd have different opinion about Jason's playing IF I'd see him play live. If he would come to Finland I'd travel to any city here to watch his performance.
