God damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Y'all are supposed to be on the cutting edge. So why has nobody yet posted the following insane video: Cyndia Lauper, backed by Charlie Musselwhite, singing Little Walter's "Just Your Fool" in the CELEBRITY APPRENTICE boardroom as The Donald gapes? It's her new single, BTW. Little Walter lives--long enough to spin in his grave, I suspect:

This could be the end of blues as we know it. Or the beginning of the New Wave......

Peggy Lee is smiling in heaven. Mick Jagger is mirthful. Bessie Smith is happy that the ladies are finally getting some.

And Charlie is playing great, IMHO.

Interesting. I've always had a twisted likin' for Cyndi.

I agree, Charlie sounds very good.

Greg H - is that your mic Charlie's playing?

that raises the question; is the harmonica being introduced to a different audience? I've been noticing that recent movies and TV shows have used the harp. And now with bad news bears hip hop harmonica ... and this here performance on a show viewed by a young audience -- and the type of audience who chats about the show afterwords.

Charlie sounds good. Lauper is okay. I guess we should be happy any time a top notch player gets national exposure.

Somebody mentioned it in a thread but no one posted the video. I don't think it was up on the web yet.

I was *so* hoping Charlie would be able to blast Trump's hair up & over in the wrong direction on national TV, so I found the video extremely disappointing :-). Nonetheless, I thought the combination of venue, song and artists pioneered a new television genre: surreality TV.

I like Cyndi's version a lot, but it will not replace Angela Strehli's version (with Kaz Kazanoff on very competent harp) in my estimation.

I didn't know Cindy Lauper was doing blues these days, good for her. But I don't think it's gonna make blues music to progress, neither harmonica exposure ; sounds like average blues to me, so I doubt that it attracts a new audience. I liked better her pop songs ("True Colors", "Girls just Wanna..."), but I wish her to sell a lot of these ones.

On french TV, I see more harps than before, because the musical trend is for pop-rock with a growing dose of folk ; so the harp comes back a little. Maybe that's the way to bring modern blues harpin' to the media : sneaking into pop music...

And progressing music - "innovating", that's what it's all about, right?

Nobody listens to music to party or chill out or just because they DIG IT anymore, huh?

Just me, I guess.
