B,

I sent you a PM following your post on the "L". I'm invariably around my San Francisco office when I'm not offshore working or back home in the mountains. If I'm around, I'd love to get with you for an adult beverage. Or, if it's after your trip to Buddha's Lair, I may be able to help debrief you from the trauma of all that canine exposure.

I heard you were coming to KC, and plan on seeing the show. Lawrence is pretty close for me too -- I may do both.

While in town here, I'd suggest you get your friends to take you out for some of our fantastic barbecue. When I have people in town, I take them to Jack's Stack, Oklahoma Joes or Gates BBQ.

Best of luck with the tour, Brendan

And Billy Ebeling? There's a name from the past - I can remember Ebeling Bros gigs from Uni Orientation days!

You're doing it wrong! You don't want to be in the south in the summer! You want to tour New York/New England in the summer. Save the South for winter.

Billy Ebeling, my goodness. Used to go out of my way to listen to him 7 or 8 years ago when I lived in KC. Glad to he's still active. He played a friend's BD party and another friends daughters wedding with his The Late To Dinner Band. Have several of his CD's. Could only find the File Gumby CD. Got it in the player right know. My band is playing out here in the sticks the 11th and 12th. Don't know if I can do a night at Knuckleheads and make a 2 night gig or not. Might try.

hey JimInMO
for me it was nearly 20 years ago, back in New Zealand - he lived there for a good few years. He's got great tone on the harp, especially for a rack player

Small world. I remember him saying he had done some globe trotting. Spent a number of years in NZ and Australia. Brendon, sorry about hijacking your thread !

Hey Adam, are you and Brendan Power playing in Bentonia,Ms. for real? Must be at the country store if so. Bentonia is in Yazoo County right down the road from me. Also the home of Skip James.

I agree with nacoran that you should hit the North East. I'd love to see a gig!

When I was at the Sugar Blue show at Terra Blues in NYC there was a flyer for a Jason Ricci show on June 24th. His website hasn't added this date so I'm not sure if it's really happening. If it does, it would be a good reason to come to NYC ;)

Thanks so much for the suggestions and comments for my US trip. Looking forward to meet those who said they'll come to one of the gigs/workshops. And I'll definitely follow up those suggestions to visit other parts of the US another time.

Buzadero: a couple of SF invitations to sit in have come from Grant Walters of the Big Crawdaddy band (Sams Chowder House, El Granada, Half Moon Bay May 30th 1-4pm) and Aki Kumar (Lou's Pier 47 June 4th evening), so hopefully see you at one of those for a beer :)

Re. Bentonia: attending the annual Blues Festival there on the 19th June with Adam. Can't wait!

No need to apologise for hijacking the thread; it's great some of you know about my talented friend, Lawrence's Billy Ebeling. Like James, I met him in New Zealand in the 80's, when he and his brother Terry on drums rocked the whole country as the Ebeling Brothers. Billy not only has a great Blues feel in everything he does, he has a wicked sense of humour that comes out in his clever, witty lyrics. Witness the title of one of his songs on the eponymous CD : "Nothing's Too Good For You"... ;)

We became good friends in NZ and kept in touch. In recent years he's been coming over to visit me in Canterbury, England, and we do a bunch of local pub gigs together. People here love him; he's a great performer and has a fantastic rapport with the audience. He really deserves to be better known in the US too. His website is http://www.billyebeling.com, and YouTube channel is http://www.youtube.com/billyebeling. Here's an example:
