Hello all. Mr. Gussow was generous enough to allow me back onto the Forum after I apologized for my disrespectful post last week. I wanted to apologize to y'all as well.
Nastyolddog, my post was directed at you. I didn't name names but it was. I was in a really bad mood and was looking for trouble. I didn't mean any of things I said there. It was very generous of you to suggest that I should have had an opportunity to speak for myself before getting bumped. That was very sobering when I read that. Sorry for underestimating your strength of character.
Walter I apologize to you for bringing that kind of negativity into your space. I get from the things you share that you'd rather not be in the middle of that.
I apologize to anyone else on the forum who might have read that and been offended as well.
I apologized to Adam for the disrespect it was to him after the warning he had just posted, and yes I read it. I forced his hand.
I do believe in civility and grace. I won't let it happen again.
Peace,
Shane

I like this forum... in the e-world, one can easily take an hour or a day off to articulate a well thought response that would not otherwise be if the conversations were to happen face to face. civility and your stern beliefs dont always go hand in hand...no worries. welcome

A little OT: Nastyolddog said: "Now if thought my Boss was an asshole, i don't say Hay Big Bossman your an asshole, thats saying he is one, I say hay Big Bossman i think your an asshole, i'm only thinkin he is,"
TRUE STORY (and I'll try to keep it brief): I coached college ice hockey for 20+ years. I became friends with a lot of referees over the time. A friend of mine was reffing one of our games and, frankly, really sucking at it that night. I felt like he was giving my team the shaft on every call.
After one final blown call I wanted to get the message to him. I talked to my team captain and told him what to say. The conversation between the two went as follows: Captain: Mr. Official, Coach McC. wants to know if he can get a penalty for thinking.
Official: (knowing something was coming but willing to play along) No, he can't get a penalty for thinking.
Captain: OK, Good, because he thinks you're an asshole.
The official had to pause the game before the next face off because he was laughing too hard to skate.

Welcome back shanester. When things start to get nasty I usually stop reading the thread as I've found that at my age I only have so much emotional stamina (if that is what it really is called). I have a fairly high stress job where time off is relative and so are vacations.
My advice to anyone is that when someone starts to get your blood boiling to do yourself a favor and find a different mindset by any means necessary (might have opened myself up for a bit of levity laced commentary with that statement...). Doing this is healthier for yourself and your relationship with others whether cyber based or face to face. I can't tell you how many times I've rued the fact of a harsh retort and the times I have cherished the moments when I just refrained from telling it like it is only to find that the person my comments were going to be directed to had no way near the emotion invested in their viewpoint than I had. I know that rambled a bit, but I've found it is better to leave a potential conflict secretly embarassed of your unspoken emotions versus speaking your mind and the ensuing emotions that come from the receipt of that. Given those statements I'll have to say that the only way I came to those findings is by going through the same experience shanester did and ending up owing some folks an apology. Good for you for apologizing and I welcome your future commentary on harmonica shanester.
