Hello... my name is Ben and I'm new to this forum.
I am wondering if any of you live in or close to Northern New Jersey? I am looking for someone who can give me lessons.
I was inspired to play the harmonica when I stumbled across Ronnie Shellist on Youtube. I quickly found Jason Ricci and that lead me to Adams lessons.
I am a beginner considering I've only been playing harmonica for a few months, but according to Adams "Level" scale I would probably be considered Intermediate plus a little. I am an experienced bassist and play Saxophone a bit, so the theory part I have down. I can pull off most of the Advanced Intermediate skills, but since I already can play a little I am super green on some of the basics. I have learned a lot from all the Youtube vids, but I really want to have one on one with skilled player.
I'm also very interested in any info on open blues jams in NJ, NYC, or NEPA!
Any help would be awesome! Thanks!

Lol. Oisin, you beat me to the punch. I was going to mention Jon, and oddly enough, that's about how I was going to describe him.
Earlounge- He's the only one I know of. There are some members down in Philly, some over in Mass, and some of us up in Upstate New York (Albany and Syracuse). Adam might know some people who might know the blues spots in that area. He used to live in NYC.
If you haven't already, you can put a pin in the forum map for yourself and look to see who else is close. It's on the forum how to page.

cool, thanks for all the replies!
Jon, Do you have a band I could check out? Or do you ever go to any local open jams?
If you don't feel comfortable giving a lesson, then maybe you'd be down to just jam out one day? I've always wanted to meet a porn star! ha!

I am from NJ but no longer live there but I will be leaving tomorrow for a week visit with my family. We will be staying in Lavalette. You are welcome to stop by if you like. Maybe Big Nancy can swing by too. My wife, 2 dogs and me, rented a nice house a couple blocks for the ocean. Earlounge- Where you signed in to Google? Hit edit, and then in the top left corner of the map there should be a little a button to add a placemark. That should give you a placemark to place, then you can edit the info on it. If you are still having problems let me know and I'll give you a hand. ---------- Nate Facebook
