I've played around with this device before but tapping into Brendan's creative ingenuity I've designed a complex holding device using a loop of elastic and a single rubber band. (patent pending)

I've just realised that Hendrix show I refer to on the video was just shy of 51 Years ago!!?!

Anyway this is a neat little setup for a bit of random busking.

I'm using a HDMX Wireless Jam Speaker and a Sony ECN MS907 Condenser Mic. Produces quite a big sound for such a small device.

The Jam Speaker is Aux in and is Bluetooth also. It's a pity I can't BT a backing track to it from my smartphone and jam with it but it will only accept 1 input at a time.

The unamplified sample at the end of the video is a short version of the amplified version.

It's small, but I've seen one a bit smaller! (Sort of, at least when you included the mic).

There was a Japanese guy a few years back who had a video where took two bullet shell mics and mounted them together backwards. One still worked as a mic. The other became the speaker. Saved some wire too!

But this is pretty cool. Yours, I think may have an advantage of it being a bit easier to not accidentally aim it away from people with an aggressive head bob.

If you mounted another one for BT and designed the layout properly you could patent it as "ManBoobs" (tm) or "SoundTits" (tm) (for both male and female players). Or mount them on a lightweight helmet, or ... lots of combos.

Bonus points for visual street theatre.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback.

Haha Komuso. A very practical solution. I was thinking along those lines but felt the Boob option might mean I have to add some Madonna covers to my set.

I could maybe adapt one of these fun drinking hats or better still keep the Buds onboard and attach the Jam speakers to the sides.

As you say there are a number of options and they would have that curiosity appeal that would draw folk in.

Brilliant. Although there's a duty to be cool as a harp player isn't there? That doesn't fit happily with strapping a speaker on your chest with rubber bands and knicker elastic :(

Excellent vibrato as usual. Always worth mentioning.

MindThe_____Gap. Thanks man! And LOL 'knicker elastic and rubber band' I'm hurt! Fear not a cool mark 2 is under development featuring a cardboard tube and sticky back plastic which I'm calling The Blues Peter model;)

This is so funny, I literally just last week picked up a similar little speaker (the Oontz Angle 3 plus) and was super impressed with the sound. It's Bluetooth too, but also has an aux in. So what did I do? Of course plugged in and gave it a wail! I had the exact same thought: this would make a killer minimal busking rig! Really, you just need a little preamp to get some.color.on the mic, and perhaps just a small looper or drum track, and you'd be golden. Great minds always think alike, lol!

Haha. That's funny Isaac! Ideas flowing this way and that across the pond! I only bought one for garden party music Bluetoothed from my phone and then I thought 'hang on a minute' this would make a great busking device.

I fooled my son once by playing through a clip on mic attached to the harp (cupping obscured it) and running the thin lead up my sleeve to the Jam speaker hidden in my coat pocket. I'll always remember the startled look on his face at the volume I was getting from my harp!

I agree a little preamp would be handy.

I like this two-speaker idea. Why not use one with aux for the harp, and a second one as BT for the backing tracks?

I assume this would work (Then again I'm pretty much tech illiterate by choice . . . so maybe not).

Rontana. I think it would work ok. Just attach the mic to Aux on one (that will stop it trying to BT pair with this device) and let the other Jam Speaker Pair with your smartphone on which you have loaded backing tracks. Just best how to mount them as they may become obscured under your playing arms. Probably on a hat or helmet as mentioned above.

Wakey wakey guys. I was showing you something very similar back in 2012. The harp wasn't amped though it didn't need to be for the range that you'd be entertaining.

Perfect. One vid with the amplified backing track tip and one with the amplified Harp using a mini battery powered condenser Mic.

I find the amplified harp makes a big difference as it really cuts through nicely in busking spots and allows the vocals to be cranked up. It's also nice to be able to play cupped for a dirtier sound. Seems everyone on the streets these days is amped up for vocals, instrument and backing track.

I haven’t used the backing track option, except once recently in a house party setting. For more power I take my battery powered Vox DA5 5W amp along.
