I became aware this weekend that the Amazon ads that I show on several pages of this website--the ones that have little album-cover icons and links to purchase pages--aren't showing when I use Firefox, my default browser. But they DO show, all of them, when I use Safari.
In order to troubleshoot this, it would be very helpful to me if you would visit the following page.....
classic blues harmonica albums
....using your favorite browser and any others you care to boot up, and tell me whether you see a blank white space below the final sentence (".....jamming along with their soulful grooves"), or, as intended, a field filled with several dozen Amazon icons for class blues harp albums.
If you've got Firefox and those icons are showing, please tell me what version of Firefox you're running. I just updated to the newest version on Saturday and I think that may be what's going on.

Well now here's the question: I'm using Firefox 42.0 and it DOESN'T show the album covers.
Can somebody explain how it can be working for GreyOwl and Doug, but not for me? I've whitelisted this site, so it's not as though ads are being blocked by Ghostery--or is it?

See if it's an Adblock issue. I'm using Chrome and they didn't display them until I specifically went in and made sure the MBH domain wasn't being blocked. (Usually I see our banner ads at the bottom, but I didn't see the record links until I disabled Adblock for the site.)

I'm on Chrome on Linux. These ads are all displayed when I disable AdBlock and AdBlockPlus, but are completely gone when I have them enabled (normal state of affairs). Usually, AdBlock and ABP allow "unobstrusive" banner ads through, but block things with flash, things that are targeted through cookies, or things that are intrusive or annoying (video ads). I'm not sure how ABP sees these particular embedded Amazon ads, but clearly it is blocking them. This is odd, because it DOESN'T block similar Amazon ads on other sites I frequent, like in the camera reviews on www.imaging-resource.com/cameras/reviews/. Personally, I don't mind these kind of ads at all. They are quite unobtrusive to my browsing experience, and, in fact, add value by directing me straight to products I actually might want to buy. I wonder if there's another way for you to do it? Direct links to those albums? I suppose you need to have the correct code so that you get your cut of the proceeds though...

The album covers show up fine for me on both Chrome 10 and Firefox.
Unfortunately, there's a serious typo on that page - it looks as if it's recommending "Goin' Back Down South" for Charlie Musselwhite, instead of "Stand Back!". Weird.

Thanks, guys. I'm completely mystified. Nate, anybody: can anybody look at the evidence presented in this thread and figure out what's going on?
Using Firefox 42.0, I whitelisted this site. No Amazon.
I went to the Amazon site, and Amazon Associates (where I get the ad code) and whitelisted both of them, then went back to this site. Still no ads.
I guess I need to hire a pro, or just leave stuff as is and put up with the sub-optimal performance.

Probably not your browser per se', but rather your browser's settings.
Google search "Can't see icons on Firefox webpage" and you'll get several hits for support.Mozilla that address these types of issues.

I don't have AdBlock (the Firefox add-on); I have Ghostery. I've whitelisted this site and Amazon. Still no icons. Are you saying I should completely disable Ghostery? Or maybe I should just do that when I'm working on the site.
Well, I'll try temporarily disabling it.

kudzu,
Try creating an alternate profile in Firefox as a test.
As a second option, if you're on a Mac, maybe try logging on as a different user on the Mac and THEN launching Firefox. I have to believe it's something profile related with Firefox.
Good luck!
EDIT: Also, Firefox 41.0.2 on Xubuntu 14.0.2 icons are displayed when adblock is disabled and are totally non-existent when it's enabled.

I did the "restart with add-ons disabled" on Firefox--I think it's called "safe surfing," something with the word safe in it--and sure enough, all the Amazon icons resurfaced. This made no sense, since I had already disabled Ghostery and since I only had two other add-ons, neither of which had the slightest thing to do with ad blocking.
So I decided to "refresh" Firefox. After watching a little pop up say something like "almost done" for about ten minutes, I decided that Firefox was frozen. So I forced it to quit. This lost me ALL my bookmarks. In fact, I couldn't get Firefox to open. I tried downloading a new version. Same thing. I tried restarting my Mac. Same thing.
I went online and......
Anyway, long story: I downloaded Firefox again, went into the internal directories, and messed with stuff, so now Firefox will open.....but I've still lost all my bookmarks.
I've spent the last two hours putting basic bookmarks back into the bookmark toolbar, one by one.
It's good to start from scratch every now and then.
The problem is still there, though, and I don't have any add-ons! Still can't see the icons.

The first time I tried disabling AdBlock it actually didn't take, but I know from experience that that happens sometimes so I always try it a second time.
It seems that we now have two separate issues- Adam's specific browser problem, and the more global problem of people who might not see the links and don't know why. I'm not sure what to do about the first one, but the second I think we can address by adding some text that says something like, "You should be seeing some links, if you aren't, try disabling any ad blocking plugins on this page".
As for troubleshooting your access problems specifically Adam, you are on a Mac right? I don't have access to a Mac to troubleshoot on, but if you send a link of where you got the buttons from on Amazon I can do some digging.

I am using Firefox 42.0 (latest) on Mac operating system. The determining factor for me is whether or not AdBlock Plus (ABP) extension is turned on or off for MBH in the browser. Here is a sequence of Here is a sequence of screenshots to show before after disabling ABP.
Firefox 42 with ABP

Disabling ABP for MBH in Browser

Firefox 42 with ABP Turned off for MBH

So, it seems that AdBlock Plus is filtering out the AdSense feed to the viewers who use it.
Hope this helps,

Restore Bookmarks. Firefox backs them up each session, I believe:

Backup current ones before doing this tho.
