It would be nice if that first one was annotated to take you to a longer track for each one. You could use it to find what you are looking for and then practice playing to it.

Invaluable info!! This is great for all drummers but especially so for non baby boomer drummers. I say this because baby boomers grew up w/ blues and have a general idea of what it is supposed to sound like.

I play lots of shuffles as I drum with 2 blues bands. The key is to relax and remember it is swung. Rock players want to straighten the beat out which is not blues
I have been playing shuffles for almost 50 years and sometimes have to rearrange my mind when I need to play a straight pattern

This is how its done by the best

@Goldbrick -- Love his brush work and there are too many drummers who have lousy brush work and it's great when you're doing super low volume gigs. Good video. A rock drummer is more likely to play everything in straight 8th notes which totally kills a blues groove in a hurry.

My band recently found a new drummer who is excellent. Stays in the pocket, not too loud, and can play a variety of shuffles. We knew when he came to audition, and, before playing, asked how loud we liked to play, that he was on the right track. He then pulled out bundles which he has used for most of our gigs. He also uses brushes frequently, and (disclaimer - I am not a drummer) he sounds good doing that, too. This guy is a fifteen year pro and has played in a variety of bands from rock to country, but likes and understands the blues. What a treat to find someone like him! We instantly sounded so much better than with our previous guy who was a rock guy and constantly pushed the beat (because he knew better and thought the blues was boring).
