Hey all.

I'm compiling a manual full of engineering data sheets for old vintage microphone models that are often found in the arsenals of harp players. Sort of a go-to guide for players and techs alike as a reference.

So far, I have the majority of the Shure and Electro-Voice models, with the exceptions of the Brown Bullet and the M-43/U, but I'm starting to think perhaps there never were data sheets on those since they were OEM models. Harpaholic kindly sent me a scan of some instructions for installing Astatic crystal microphones. I'm finding that data sheets for mics by Astatic, Turner, and many others are proving elusive...not that it surprises me since Turner's been out of business for years and Astatic isn't the same Astatic of yesterday.

That being said...I'm putting the call out for anyone who has original data sheets or scans of them for any and all microphones that are popular among us harp players. Here are a few brands I'm looking for...

Astatic
American
Ampex
Akai
Aiwa
Argonne
Calrad
Grundig
Kay
LRE
Monarch
Oktava
Pearce-Simpson
Phillips
RCA
Sonotone
Turner
Voice of Music

Hmm, that looks like it would be useful to post on a Wiki...

So far I've only got one page up, one harp layout for C, but by the end of the month I hope to have key/note charts up and some useful links.

Hawkeye,
Tom Ellis of Tom's Mics Dallas Texas may be able to help you out. Tom hipped me to a lot of stuff years ago (pre-internet) and seems always willing to help.
He started HOOT* of Texas, you may can find him there.

No one I know of has had a bigger vintage NOS mic collection than Dennis Gruenling.

Something to think about.

Meaux Jeaux-
Thanks! I'll try and look him up!

Harpaholic-
I've written to most of the mic gurus on my contact list, but not to Dennis yet. Mainly because his is a web-based contact form. But I'll give him a shout today some time.

Lester-
Yup...I've Googled quite a bit already. I've come up with a number of Turner and Astatic catalogs that have specs listed for mic models, but no actual data sheets as of yet. Found a couple of American models though...
