The way I see it, harp players are the only ones who truly appreciate a good harmonica-related gift.
My wife or kids can give me a new harp, mic, pedal, or CD, but they don't know the joy the way a harp player would. So the gift is given, but with somewhat of a roll of my wife's eyes. (How many kinds of harmonicas are there? Why would anyone need so many?) I can't go to work tomorrow and share the joy with others. My musician friends can only sort-of get it.
In short, I can't properly share my excitement.
So in the spirit of which ever holiday you observe, let's celebrate together.
What harmonica-related gifts did you get that you're excited about?
For me, G and A country tuned Special 20s.
Oh, and a Harp Break I bought for myself...it's still in the mail...can't wait.

A 12 hole Hohner 270 chromatic arrived. I asked for it but not sure where I'm going to find the time to deal with it over and above my fun struggles with diatonic. Hopefully the two work together and there's a positive net benefit.

Congrats SmokeJS. I'd love to experiment with chromatic, but have my hands full with diatonic.
I did give my 21 month old daughter a Hohner GLH. So now with her and my 3 year old son, I have 3 players in the house.
3 vs. 1 is a good advantage.

My brother has, twice now, made me hand made harmonica belt cases. The first one was pure linked chain. This year he gave me one with a leather backing. :)
The other thing I've noticed (or heard complained about) is that it's impossible for a non-harp player to know what to buy without specific instructions. If I say I want a Special 20 in the key of Db with a custom comb they say, 'Write it down and tell me where to order'. I was just pondering the other day if there was any way to create a harp Christmas/birthday registry. A couple people in my family are musical, so they at least understand what I mean when I say 'key of' but there is no mystery. I suppose we just forward Amazon.com wishlists but so much of the cool stuff is special order.
Your story about giving your daughter a Hohner reminded me. I heard a great story today. Some time back I bought myself a new harmonica, and while I was at the store I bought one friend a Big River- he's trying to quit smoking and I thought harmonica might help, but I also picked up two extra harps, one for another friend, and one for a friend's kids. Anyway, I hadn't heard much about them since then, and it's been a few months. My mother dropped off some cookies at my friend's house (the one with kids) and he was saying he got yelled at the other day. Apparently the harmonica is a hit, but it has worked it's way over to the grandparents house. Apparently the grandmother was yelling, 'Who the f#^$ gave the kids a harmonica!' You've got to savor the small victories in life. :) ---------- Nate Facebook Thread Organizer (A list of all sorts of useful threads)

My sister in law gave me a Marine Band Deluxe in D-flat. My wife musta told her my only D-flat harp was a piece of crap Big River and the boss just added a tune in A-flat and I was complaining bitterly last week that I hate the key of A flat. Now I have a bitchin new harp to woodshed with all weekend. Nice.

Just had a discussion with the household accountant and she agreed that i 'need' 3 Joe spiers Stage 1's. (there are two squeaky doors, one tap washer and a deck to water blast)before total acquiescence is proffered. In plain English bribery works..

@Nacoran
There is an add-on to Firefox that allows you to add almost anything from any web site to your Amazon wish list. I've used it a bit in the past.
It's available here:
AmazonWishListButton
I would use it to wish list a Lone Wolf Harp Delay pedal, but I'm fairly certain I will "require" one before the next significant gift-getting event.
Although, nothing says Valentines like a harp delay.

I gifted myself with a Harp Break, its on his way and the wait is driving me crazy hahah
Also I would love to get a chomatic, but I would never want people to give me a harp, most probably they look for the cheapest one available and get me a Blues Band lol
Oh the other day a guitar player friend of mine gave me a piece of crap mini 10 watt amp. that sounds ugly with guitar but man that gets on some dirty harp sounds I love that
And I agree, harp is something only other harp players will get, everytime I show up to play and I bring my case with 7 harps, people normally say why you don't get a chromatic and end of story?
Man no It aint the same thing

I got a couple of vintage harmonica instruction books. First was from 1927, and included "over 200 songs". The second was from 1937, and was a bit of Hohner marketing material, which shows you specific songs that you can play on different models of hohner harmonicas. Fun stuff, and a very thoughtful harp-related gift idea.... ----------   YouTube! Soundcloud!

I got a soldering station! Immediately got to work on some mics and guitar pickups. I thought you could fix anything with some duct tape and super glue, now I know you can fix everything with some soldering :)

I have done very well with harp related gear over the past few years. Something out of the box arrived this year. A didgeridoo! I can already make some rudimentary didge noises (using some of my singing exercises), and it comes with a case I can sling over my shoulder "in case I want to take it busking" says my wife. I am very pleased.
We also got my brother-in-law's fiancée's 15-yr-old son a Special 20 in D. He has studied classical violin for years and has an excellent ear. He was very happy as well. So was I.

I got nuttin' in the harp department. . . so I'm giving myself some lessons (one-on-one) to augment Adam's excellent video series. Am taking them from a fella named Tulsa Read in KC. Nice guy, and seems to really know his stuff.
But, musically speaking . . . I built a reso bass (a piccolo) and gave it to a friend in NY. Also built a large, bowed psaltery for my best friend, and a smaller one for my brother.

My wife doesn't much like harmonica. In addition she feels that I have more harmonicas then anybody could possibly need (she might be right); so I don't get much in terms of harmonicas for Christmas.
However, our 2 yr old daughter is picking up harp rather quickly and Dad love's getting us both some new harps; so mom is now on the losing side of a 2 to 1 vote. We also have another on the way and as far as I can tell kids love harp as much as I do; so soon it will be 3 to 1.
I did however buy myself a set of (5) special 20's. I haven't played sp 20's since I first started playing 3 yrs ago. I've been more of a marine band or golden melody guy lately, but I'm digging the SP 20's quite nicely.

I bought Winslow's "Blues Harmonica for Dummies" book with a gift card I received. A buddy of mine has a son that used to play guitar and, with his son's blessing, gave me his Peavey Rage 158 amp. 15 watts w/an 8" speaker. I've been having fun playing around with it. ---------- I'm workin on it. I'm workin on it.
