I don't know if this would pass the food safe standards, but as soon as I saw this I thought someone should make a comb or a mic shell out of it. (Or I suppose a guitar body, but that's less interesting to me.)

I will be using this to engrave the key label on the side of my combs. White in daylight, bright blue in the dark.

Funny. My son saw that article and sent it to me as well. I have to search his blog to find the source for the powder, but there's no reason this couldn't be done on one of my wood mics.

If only they made the table edges glow so I could stagger drunkenly into my domicile without hitting my shins.

@nacoran - I see what you did there. Sounds like a catchy company name.

Greg, that could look really cool. I wonder what level the stage lights would have to be at for it to show well. And you'd have to remember to put it under a light for a bit before each show, but it could really look slick.

I just about had enough money saved up to buy a mic this spring, but my car decided to break down and now I'm stuck with car payments for a little bit. I stuck to a tight budget though, so there is a little light at the end of the tunnel. I will, someday, get one of your mics. It's on my bucket list.

Right now I'm using a Shure Prologue that at least gets the signal to the amp and has an on/off switch.

Ridge, my dad has a lovely table he made from a slab of redwood that he bought. It's got all sorts of crazy and sharp angles. For several years though he had to keep a thick comforter over it so the step grandkids didn't split their heads open on it. At my house, the worst trip I've taken was over my amp- just high enough to both keep you from recovering with your feet or knees and tall enough to kind of act like a fulcrum. Not fun. Maybe I should make new case for it using some of this!

Well I found some glow in the dark powder and ordered some. But I doubt it will be successful. If you read the guy's DIY Blog - he has to take it out in the sunshine, then take it in a dark room to photograph it before it vanishes. Just like everything else "glow in the dark" I've ever seen - it doesn't really light for very long and is difficult to see except in a very dark area (or under black light, which makes it go crazy.)

So I'm not hopeful but... who knows? You never know unless you try. So I'm going to try.

UPDATE: I got the powder in the mail. It does in fact act like any other - cool blue glow in very dark darkness after freshly exposing to a very bright light in bright brightness. Sitting by itself? It just has a pale yellow appearance. Next year I'll see if it glows naturally under the stage lights. If it DOES I'll consider making a mic with it. Otherwise...... meh!.......

Greg, one thing I've noticed over the years...UV light is what GID material thrives on. And putting it under a black light overnight will usually charge the GID far more efficiently than sunlight. I sometimes leave my wristwatch with luminescent hands under a black light overnight, and the hands will glow in the dark for almost a week.
