I was turned on to these guys today and was reminded of a previous thread regarding modern blues and how that might be defined. I think this would have to fit any definition, though inevitably some would disagree.

Great stuff, LSC.

Recently a friend of mine showed me a group of french DJs called 'C2C', they're amazing and have a lot of blues/jazz/soul influence.

And that song 'Happy', one of the best things I discovered recently, the videoclip is absolutely fantastic

@Eduardo - agree, that's an amazing clip

Another guy I rate is Buck 65 from Canada, who does a sortof rootsy Tom Waits/ Jim White hip hop mix

I love the way they ping pong the harp part left/right.

Great stuff. Check out Buck 65's Facebook page. He is an excellent writer with lots of tales to tell, many about his experiences on the road.

Some more canuck boys, harpoonist and the axe murderer, with that raw sound.

Great call, LSC! I love it. That is indeed modern blues. It's got the traditional sounds in it, but it's f--king with 'em. Excellent stuff. I'm going to find a place to put that video on this website.

Wow!! Catchy, groovy and different. A nice meld of rap and blues. I'm not a rap fan. But this works! Great sense of movement and transition in the video, and it comes back full circle ..just like a 12 bar.

Yeah, I liked that... Rap always sounds "funny" to me when it's not done in English, but I suppose that's just an Americanist bias of mine... Cool treatment of the harp samples (panning and scratching), and cool to see that they left a lot of the "blues" in the sampled guitar parts too. Fun!
