In case any of you aren't aware that Mark Prados (MP) is back repairing harps, I wanted to tell you that he is. Mark does a great job at a more than reasonable price with quick turnaround. He is also great with communication and suggestions, and is willing to share tips on how to do it yourself. You can't go wrong working with him. That is not to say that others on this forum don't also do quality work.

begin shameless promotion:
Mark cleaned up 4 of my harps so well, I sent him an additional 6. It’s like having a 50,000 mile service for your car – it runs better after. Same for harps. I took a bunch out of my 'bad harp bag' -they were unplayable, out of tune, bad reeds, etc. I am not a talented bench worker and have destroyed some harps so better to turn them over to Mark who fixed them up for very reasonable price. They play like new.

Shameless promotion ended.

Appreciate all your kudos. Harps should last forever unless you back over them w/ your car.
I think I was telling jzinmas how I used to gig with mouse ear MBs that are nearly 100 years old.

have a good day. :-)

This vid shows one of my favorite reed fixes. fast, easy efficient. My detractors say it doesn't always work.

Well, it works 99% for me.
I have four other techniques and even own a Romel tool.
Two w/ screws, and three w/ rivets.

PS. I'm using new reeds now and sometimes yse a rivet stick and sometimes screws to secure reeds to plates.

I'll be getting some combs from Andrew aka arzajac
soon. He makes a comb that is more durable than Corian. He even has a vid where he drops a Corian comb and his comb. Guess which one shatters.

Corian would be great if it wasn't so fragile.

Anyway, if I like them I may pitch a deal to offer his combs in the US. I haven't mentioned this to him yet. :-)
have a good day.

MP, it's a funny thing about the mail system, then he'd send you harps all the way out from Canada and you'd send them all the way back out to us, but I'm betting you'll like the combs.
