Hi. We've had a report of site access problems. Obviously, if you can't access this site, you can't see this, but if people periodically post- yes, I can see it, we can check the timestamps for large gaps. (I know there is software that checks sites to make sure they are up. I'm going to look into getting something set up tomorrow.)

Thanks,
Nate

Sonny3, is it a Mac or a PC? What browser and operating system? Do you use the same service provider for both?

Thanks guys. We have an operating theory that it's another blacklist issue like Boris and Martin were having.

If it is, it's because 3 threads got marked as spam, and when I restored them, I deleted two of them and maybe the automated system went haywire and blacklisted automatically. Fortunately, the current victim has other ways to access the site. If that's what happened, our servers have some major glitches in their software. Major glitches.

I know I didn't always get along with him, but I'd love to be able to send in Buddha's attack dogs right about now!

Hobo, I just pulled a couple of your posts out of the spam folder- I think because they were links without much text and that is something that trips the spam filter (useful links, and on topic, but the spam filter isn't terribly bright). Annoying, for sure, but a known issue. :)

Okay, we have an update... maybe someone with a little more knowledge can parse this for me, but as I'm understanding this, your internet connection goes through a couple addresses on it's way to the wide web. The one most of us are familiar with is at our router. That, for the most part, doesn't seem to be the problem. The problem is up a step, with internet service providers. The blacklist is generated from ISPs that have sent spam, and when you log on, people get blocked at that level. There are a three ways around this. One, is to change the route you connect through. I think that's what this article is explaining.

https://developers.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using

Second, is to find the route your information is reaching the web and run these steps-

Alternately, if they can do the following, we can whitelist their ISP's DNS servers:

1) Perform a traceroute command to the IP address 69.90.45.8 and send us the results via this ticket. You can find detailed instructions on how to do a traceroute here:

http://www.wikihow.com/Traceroute

2) Contact your ISP and obtain the IP address(es) of their DNS servers, provide them to us via this ticket, and we will unblock them.

The third way is easier, but less useful. Some people have found that when they are blocked on their land line they can get through on their wireless carrier. That's really just a stopgap measure though, for most people, since wireless providers often charge for each device hooked up and unless you've got a premium phone plan you may have a data cap or throttling.

Oh, and Rubes... na uh. I have my tinfoil hat on. That makes me invisible. :)

Okay, by my count, that I'm aware of, we only have one member now who is having access issues now, and all their info is with support, so hopefully we will get that worked out soon. :)
