Dan Hazen gets the credit for posting this on harp-l and I just went to check it out. Go to Amazon and find (Best Deals Eva). They have some of most of the Suzuki Harps. I bought some spares and keys I didn't have. A manji for $20, Hammonds $32. I bought Several Firebreaths for $34 each. They have a bunch of the Pure Harps for $52, and lots of Promasters, Bluesmasters etc. There were not large quantities, but still plenty. Check it out.
I already have several Manjis, and have wanted to try the Firebreaths so its hard to go wrong.

I was just coming on here to give a heads up on these prices....beat to it! I ordered a few myself even though I'm more a Hohner guy. I picked up a Firebreath for $23 and have been wanting to try one for awhile.
Get these before they're gone-good opportunity to try new harps for a low investment :)

I bought a few Harpmasters for $6.00 each, and some of the Folkmasters for $2.25 each. This is a GREAT way to test out any alternate tunings to see how you like them before retuning your more expensive harps.
I like tuning the Harpmasters to the B-Thing tuning, which provides nice chords for chugging.

Warranty repairs required a receipt, and the management at Suzuki USA told me there are two dealers who are selling harmonicas that don't come with a warranty. Best Deals Eva is one of those vendors. You can tell which ones don't come with a warranty by the price. Call 800 854 1594 and ask for Daron for more details. Oh yeah, the other one? it's called "my music life".

I have never used a harmonica warranty and never needed to with Suzuki. I hope I don't need it this time. I just bought one of their chromatics. I hope they aren't counterfeits from the Swan factory across the street.
I've been telling myself, "I'll buy a Suzuki chromatic just as soon as I wear out this Huang", but the Huang won't wear out. I was going to try a Swan, but the SCX-56 I just purchased was not a whole lot more $$$. I guess I will make the Huang my pocket chromatic and work on Carey Bell licks at every opportunity.
Thanx Hook.

Look at it as an opportunity to get into the wonderful world of chromatic harmonica maintenance. They require a lot more fiddling with than diatonics.

Same here. I picked up two. I'm not a huge Harpmaster fan, but they are pretty darn solid. Along the lines of a Special 20. Superb practice or backup harps..... Especially after I paid $17.10 (includes shipping) for two.

Anybody have experience with the Folkmasters? They are only $2.25! Seems like a no brainer if they are similar in quality to the Harpmasters.

I have a couple of Folkmasters in A and G. Surprisingly playable for the price. I would give them the edge over a Hohner Hot Metal which is the only other cheap Chinese harp I have tried.

I bought 4 of the Folkmasters, $9.00!, arrived in 2 days. Not bad, certainly playable, I can get that sweet 6 draw bend, thin tone compared to a better harp, but at that price, I have a set to give away.

Got my three harps today in the mail. All play well, need a little tweaking but I'm happy. These were new harps, not junk like Suzuki was saying over on harp l.Those harpmasters play great, never tried one before but for six bucks I'm real happy.Firebreath is really cool but not sure I like full length covers, may put the harpmaster covers on it. Get em' while they last!

I received my A flat Blues Master. After 12 years, I finally have all keys. It's OK. It has a red comb. I got an F to replace my F with a broken comb. It's OK too, They both need a little work. Got six Folkmaster harps for give away. 2 need a note or two tuned, 4 were fine.
It was good for me. Wish I had more spare cash.

OK, here is my story. I ordered a a SCX-56 and a Bd Harpmaster, and the order came today. Instead of the SCX-56, they sent me a SBH-21C Baritone Tremelo, which they did not even have for sale, and is a much less expensive harp. It is nice looking, though. I called and talked to the customer service Dept. and they were very nice and said that it was their mistake, and the boxes looked identical and they just pulled the wrong one.
They said they have not put the Baritone up for sale yet, so they did not know what the price was going to be. They asked me to wait until Monday, until they could talk to their manager. In the meantime, they have pulled a SCX-56 to hold for me. I offered to buy the Baritone, if the price was right, and let them ship me the SCX-56 in its place, so everything would work out right. I guess I will know on Monday afternoon.
I really would like to try out this Baritone, which is a SBH-21C, but I will have to resist, because at this time it is not mine, and I do not want to do that to them, in case I have to send it back. They seem like a good seller, so I want to be a good customer ----------

Oh I forgot, I open and played the Harpmaster Bd, and it is a real nice harp. It seems to be a little louder than a Special 20, though I was comparing it to a new A Special 20. ----------

Well, mine came in last night about 8pm. Harvey, they got my SCX-56 right. It's chromatic alright. A pretty nice one from all I can tell. I also got 2 Firebreaths and they are real nice. Very lively reeds.

I am quite confident that Best Deals Eva will take care of it, you Thievin'Heathen, The have pulled one for me until they can straighten it out on Monday. That Baritione is setting here calling my name, but so far I have resisted. If the price is right, I will buy it. ----------

On occasion I have had mail order houses screw up an order and then straighten it out and tell me to just keep the mistake. I think it was Kevin's Harps in 1990(?. You may get to keep it and a free harp would certainly make the wait worthwhile. I'm sure they will correct the error.

I don't think that they are going to give me a harp that retails at over $100 for free, but who knows.
As for whats going on in New Orleans, its festival season, so there is always something going on. Today, I am playing a a benefit for Wounded Warriors, a very worthy cause. Othere than that, I know that there are places I can go to play a little bit almost very day, if I look hard enough. ----------

On one hand Harmonicas are way more expensive and of a lesser quality than they once were but on the other hand we have the INTERNET to help find exactly what were looking for which is a plus. Everything balances out in that sense. Its just the balance of the universe in working order.

So, here it is 8 days after I ordered a SCX-56 from Best Deals EVA, and I still do not have it, and it has not shipped. To refresh the story, they sent me a Baritone Tremelo instead of the SCX-56 which arrived on the Eighth. I called Marc's closeout warehouse, which is really the company selling them, and explained the situation. They said that they would handle the situation, but I had to wait until Monday, which was the 11th, because the boss was not there. I offered to buy the Baritone, if the price was right, and they could send me the the SCX-56 in its place. So I called on Monday, and asked what they had decided. They told me they were busy filling other orders and that I would have to wait until tomorrow. So I calle just now, and they said that they were discussing it, but they have to research the internet and see what it was worth, and that I had to wait until tomorrw, which would be Wednesday. Then if I liked the price, I could send them a check, and they would ship the SC-56 out when they got the check. If I did not want the Baritone, then I would have to send it back, and they would send out the SCX-56 when they got it. My reply was that I needed the SCX-56 by the weekend, because I needed it for a gig.
If it sounds like I am losing my patience, that is because I am. Customer Service is always more important than sales, because without one, you never get the other.
One of several things needs to happen. One, they are going to make me a good price on the Baritone, in line with all their other rock bottom prices, and I will pay by credit card tomorrow and the SC-56 will be shipped tomorrow, or they will not make me a good offer on the Baritone, and they will ship the SCX-56 tomorrow, and issue me a pickup on the Baritone.
At this point in time, I think that neither of the above will actually happen, though I hope it does. My recourse, if my hunch is correct, is to dispute the credit card charge, any then they will have to figure out how to get the baritone back.
The moral of the story is Don't screw with an old man, because we have no patience. At my age, each day wasted is a percentage of the rest of my life. I just don't know what the percentage is.

Harvey - I wonder if you'll get the one that I ordered. After reading an update on Harp-L from Suzuki I cancelled it, but they shipped anyways. But then it was rerouted. If I hadn't done anything I would have had it by now, and it sounds like it would have been nice. Oh well...hopefully my cancellation is your gain.

I picked up one of those harpmasters because the price was so good.I was impressed! Very good harmonica, overblows, and bends easy, really like the coverplates too.also picked up a firebreath i like it too, great overblow harp but could be louder.I was thinking about putting harpmaster covers on the firebreath, I don't care for the full length covers it has.

The continuing saga of my scx-56 from Best Deals Eva. I got my package, which was supposed to contain my SCX-56, finally from Marc's closeout Whse. However, instead of the SCX-56, there was a Firebreath in G. This is getting so absurd that in is starting to get funny. I am going to call them tomorrow, once again, and see what happened to my SCX-56. Now, they do not list them on their website, so I guess I am SOL. But I have alternatives on how to get my money back from Amazon, or Visa, I guess. I really want the harp, instead of the money, however.
Wish me luck. ----------
