Yeah nice, Frank. All looking in good health. I always am interested to see where people live. I like the streetscape. You're in Pittsburg? ----------

Brilliant post. Those are impressive figs, we have to bury them for the winter where I live in CT.

Yes, this is Pitts, Pa...The figs are a treat and folks walking up the road are fascinated by them, some people have stopped their cars and knocked on the door to discuss them...One older lady will try to sneak getting them, I tell everyone I see when I'm out front to help themselves, I got tons of them - they sell for $1.00 a fig in the stores. They are Hardy Figs, specially bred for harsher climates- but I do have to wrap them in rugs and plastic come november for them to fully survive the winter here in PA...I know some folks who have them planted up close to their house on the side that gets most of the sun and very little winter wind and they survive without needing covered or buried. I figured there would be a some farmers at heart on the forum who would get a kick outta these pictures :)

If the figs sell for a dollar, then you have the long fabled :

It's true, yes your right Jim... but since they are so expensive, the price being way over inflated...what you do at the grocery store is eat 3 or 4 of them first to make sure you like them, then buy a few :) I love them, so that is why I planted 5 trees in my yard, 4 in the front and 1 on the side...during the harvest season I can pick 3 dozen every 2 to 4 days and while I'm pickin em, I'll consume a dozen- they literally melt in your mouth, sinfully delicious fruit :)

A silver tongue AND a green thumb. You do a lot in a small space, most impressive. Thanks for posting them.

back when we were renting, our Italian neighbour used to have to beat the racoons out of his fig trees with a rake. And these weren't the cute little Stanley Park Vancouver racoons, these were hard core East Vancouver ally raccons. Size of chimpanzees and just as smart.

Nothing tastes as good as home grown. Every time we plant something decent the bloody possums mow it down! I could make some nice jam with those berries... mmmm.

Now that's a nice crop of Fruit and Veg Frank!
Here's a crop I grew from a mixed seed packet. Trouble is they all came up MB 1847's in the key of C - not a Crossover in sight, think I'll get my money back:)

We had a sunshower the other day. There was a rainbow out the front door, but it was a little washed out. I got this out the back.

Good Morning Gents...I have every thing in the backyard fenced off to keep out critters and a deer fence around the whole enchilada...The fig trees for whatever reason have never been touched by any animals or they would be immediately fenced off for protection - if I miss picking a fig and it gets extra ribe the ants will make dinner of it and the bees will sniff it out, I am VERY surprised the deer have no interest in the figs. Deer are the #1 problem in my neighborhood - they eat most "anything"!!! Nice photos fellows...Very creative Owl, you could make a coffee table book of harps in different beautiful scenarios like that. And I didn't know you lived in Paradise NAte are you neighbors with Rosco. And thanks to all you took a look and took the time to comment :)

Most people think summer is the best season. But any grower knows it's autumn!
What are the fruits in photo 32? A tomato variety?

This is a type of Plum tomato, I forget which one and they were grown from seed sowed directly in the earth...but I'll try different varieties and love making homemade marinara sauce with them :)
