Does anyone own or have any experience with the 30W BluexLab 6X8 amp? If so, what are your thoughts? Looks pretty bitchin' to me.

@tmf
I know right?! They have a 10/2X8 version as well.

Sorry about the rather miniscule pictures, but it's either that or ones that'll triple the width of your browser's scroll. ----------

Well....I wrote the site owner. Shame. He said that due to some rotten experiences, his amps are only available in Italy where he's based. Crying shame man! He's makes some other cool machinery too!

Namely problems with international and/or overseas shipping. Said he lost a considerable amount of money from issues stemming to it. ----------

That's a pitty. They had a beautiful one on there Facebook that was actually just a case for a smaller speaker cabinet. It also had a harmonica drawer.

Nate, I saw that. Very clever. Too bad they can't find a way to economically market here in the US of A.

Maybe they need an American affiliate using their designs? Or someone with scale to help them with shipping outside of the 'shipping' companies.

From the control faces on all their amps, pretty safe to bet that they're Fender circuits. From their respective tube complements, I'd say they are based as follows:
5 watt & Amp/Case - 5F1 Champ
15W - 5E3 Deluxe (or...I suppose...a Lectrolab R500 since their circuits were virtually identical)
30W - 5E7 Bandmaster
I dunno about y'all, but I'm starting to get an itch to start saving for a 5E7 kit and materials for a 6X8 cabinet. ----------

I stand corrected. The 30W is a 5F4 Super clone. ----------

There's only 1 resistor different between the 5E7 & 5F4, Fender just used the same schem & clumsily re-wrote in a resistor change ...they kept all the incorrect voltages & everything! ;-) (The "incorrect" voltages are just ones that don't work with the schem, not incorrect as id ddon't sound good). ---------- www.myspace.com/markburness

Mark, is that resistor what made the 4W difference between the 5E7's 26W RMS and the 5F4's 30W RMS? ----------

There isn't such a big disparity in the output of the 2 amps, they have the same output sections up until the speakers.
The resistor in question is the local NFB resistor in the preamp, 10meg on the Bandmaster, 4.7Meg on the Super, it has no effect on output power in W RMS. ---------- www.myspace.com/markburness

Really the only question remaining would be what 8" speakers to use. Anyone seen any 8" Eminence Lady Lucks for sale anywhere?

@puri
I was looking at the 820H a few months ago while I was thinking about building a 4X8 cabinet. At the time, they weren't yet available through any retailer. Here stateside anyways.
@Willspear
I dunno...truth be told, I think I'd almost rather do:
3 X CVA8 3 X CVC8
in a configuration like this:

But that's only if I went with Weber. There's a pretty wide range of other possibilities out there. Eminence, Celestion, Peavey....on occaision I even still see some of the 8" Pyle Drivers that Gary put in the SJ1 and SJ2. I kinda wish Jensen was making an 8" Neo. Bet that'd be a fun speaker for this.

I don't know if it would be practical- maybe as a prestige piece just to say, 'yeah, check this out' but what about a multiple speaker configuration where each speaker was in it's own box, but you could put the boxes together. Only need a small speaker? Take one box. Need a bunch, take 6! Buckles of some sort to hold them together, or drawer hardware, the wiring would be a pain. You'd need an easy way to take them in and out of a chain. Maybe one could be spinnable for when you need a monitor. (Wireless? Sure, why not.)

@Nate
That's an interesting idea. As for the practicality of it, I think there would be potential applications for it. First, there'd be a totally different set of acoustics possible with each speaker in its own enclosure as opposed to one big one. Then, going along with your idea of hinging them, one could create different directional setups for different rooms, possibly to the point of it operating on the same principle as a Bose tower. And I bet one could rig up the wiring so that each cabinet had a set og jacks for parallel wiring, and a set for series wiring.
I think you just came up with a very intriguing new concept there Nate! ----------

I thought a cab with 4X8, 1X12 would be killer. Found a good deal on a Mesa Boogie missing the 12. Found the correct Celestion 12 locally and installed it. I tried driving the cab first with a Mesa Boogie head and later an Egg-something variable tube variable output head. Rebel 20, I think. Cool head, great idea, but the cab was just too stiff. Might have worked well with a bass but just did nothing for me for harp. All of the Celestions were big magnet ceramics, not the best choice for harp. I didn't want to get into that trap, buying, selling, swapping speakers. I'm glad guys like Gary Onofrio and other builders did that research for us. BTW: Acquired a vintage Dano 1X15. Added that amp to my Dano Commando 8X8. Now that's the killer tone and big bottom I was hoping for!
