I wish I’d made that line up myself but it originates from Forum member Honkin on Bobo, but it describes my situation at the minute as I have just received 2 new custom Session Steel’s from Ben Bouman (Dutch based customiser). So I’m sitting here ogling them and taking photos to share these beauties – I fully intend getting round to playing them sometime:o)
I decided to play safe and give the standard fluorescent orange combs a miss and plumped for the Special Winter grey version which has a subtle glitter effect. Another nice feature is the easy to read key label which is covered with a clear plastic lens and sits alongside a 24 carat diamond which is useful touch reference point to prevent you picking up the harp and playing it the wrong way round in poor light. Ok I might have exaggerated the diamond bit :o)
The full length covers are sturdy and very comfy as is the plastic comb. I’ll forgive them the placard style advertising on the rear side of the comb – there’s no doubt what model you’re playing though.
The harp has stainless steel reeds. The coverplate supports are nice and rigid so even The Hulk could play them without fear of causing any damage.
I’ll try and put up a vid. sometime to demonstrate the sound. It looks like I’m now a convert to SS reeds. Here’s the pic’ies……..
The long body covers feel so much better in the hand to me. Tactile harp porn? The only problem I've found is the back supports on that cover can get bent easily when you have the harp apart. I wish they'd do something a little more robust.
