Deak posted this on his facebook this morning. I'm intrigued.

"I am working with an amp builder to build me an amp to my specs. These amps will also be Mississippi made. The amp is called the Radio Star. These amps are all hand made and point to point wiring. This amp will look like the old radios that your grandfather heard Sonny Payne promoting King Biscuit Flower with Sonny Boy Williamson on in the 1940's. Hand made cabinet. All work done by masters of the craft. We will have prototypes in the store during Juke Joint Fest. Come in and try one out. Come in and place an order for one. 6 week turnaround."

He also posted pics with the post, but my phone is having trouble retrieving them today for some reason.

Is that a Masco chassis? If the amp is a Masco knock-off it will compete with the Megatone ME-18 amp. I've played that amp at my jam and it is Fantastic. Truly.

I dunno if the finished product is a Masco clone or not Rick. You'd have to ask Deak. Might just be that they're using a chassis plate that's the same shape and dimensions as the ME-18.

That sure looks like a Masco logo on the right of the knobs, and the knobs and circles around them are pure Masco.

I'm not knocking it at all. Masco amps are great. I owned a 1953 Masco ME-18 for several years; loved it. As I said, it looks like a cool amp and I wish them luck. There have been a few harp amps modeled at least in part on the Masco circuit. The first Sonny Jr amps were. Wezo's Megatone amps are. The Mission amps borrow some design elements from the Mascos.

I'm looking forward to hearing this amp and finding out how much it costs. The Megatone ME-18 is up to $2000 for the basic 1x10 version.

Hi Hawk!

i check my e-mail, Facebook, and i read MBH like the daily paper.
i've been deluged with repairs so i try to keep computer time to under an hour.
if i start yammering here i can go on and on and then it's 4pm and i haven't tuned a single harp. i only repair in the day time do to lighting and consideration of my long suffering neighbors.
