I started singing lessons this year after a good deal of procrastination. My teacher showed me this vid of someone singing and it shows in great clarity just how big and dynamic the tongue is. You can also see the soft palate rising as well (I believe). I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Throat benders better not look at this, ha ha ha

For the record I don't have much of an opinion about all that, I'm a lip purser learning tongue blocking, bends and all, sure is different.

Amazing, some of those notes had the tongue almost shutting the airway off and yet the sound remaind the same, who would have thought the tounge moved about so much.

That is probably the coolest music video I've ever seen! And a pretty good song too!

The other day, I went to the dentist for my 6-month checkup/cleaning...

while cleaning my teeth, the dental hygienist remarked "you sure have a muscular tongue" (it kept getting in her way).

Must be from all the tongue flutters and thrusts that I've been practicing!

I told her I was a harmonica player.

I was talking with a guy at open mic the other day. He had a harp, and so I joked that we harp players needed to spread the word that harp players use our tongue a lot. He looked at me like I was crazy.

He was a folk/rack player. Not a bend in sight. The worst part though, is he seemed to have better luck with the ladies. :(

You're on the right track though Nate. Dang those rack players and they fandangle multi-tasking tomfoolery! Who wants a gal impressed by that kinda shenanigans anyway!
