I've been generating a few of these little pieces with various iPad apps and I'm not sure what to do with them. Should I work them into fuller songs? - Use them as funk jams as is ? For now I'll just post a few on Soundcloud and share some of them here. Open to suggestions / feedback

Most of them are loop based using either Garage Band or Loopy HD. Now with audiobus you can route one app into another (fantastic capabillities). This one uses the apps Figure, Jamup Pro and Loopy HD.

I love it! Definitely keep at this. Reminds me of some of the swampy grooves off Tom Waits' Real Gone - doesn't sound the same but has the same feeling of being relaxed, laid back and settled in a pocket. Very cool.

It's playing in the Gussow house right now. Fantastic stuff! Just shared with the Facebook world. Prepare to ascend.

Sounds like 2013 to me. My wife is dancing at the stove.

"That is SO far away from 'Somebody shot my dog,'" she just said.

Meaning far away from old Mississippi blues, which stuff she doesn't like. This from a woman who just spent $225 per ticket for a pair of tickets to Beyonce's upcoming concert in Nashville.

You may just have a hit. Carry on in this vein, definitely.

Edited to add: Sherrie says that it needs just one more thing: either somebody to rap over the top of it, or a female singer. Hah!

Sweet, somehow reminds me of Head Hunters album. Simple but I can't help but groove :) . Maybe needs a sweet solo or a strong head.

Yes, strong vocals railing over the top of this cool groove would be great. However, I do like it the way it is.

My speaker set up at my computer is still less than optimal, (single channel) but I'm digging the groove. The only thing (and maybe it's my audio) but I can't quite make out what what you are saying on the vocal. I don't want it in the lead, but up just a tiny smidge so I can make out the words.

Just shared it on Facebook, and once I type my Captcha in so it doesn't expire, I'm going in for another listen. :)

Couldn't listen to it, but I checked your Tornotics website;
its deadly good, and way too cool
I'd come to see you play (if I wasn't on the other side of the planet!)

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. The vocal is pretty burried in this mix. I may add a few lyrics (it's pretty minimal and will stay that way) and re-do the vocal. Female rapper? Send one over and we'll do a take. I'm hearing a sort of 'walk this way' rap over it maybe.

@Bonedog: Yeah! This is cool stuff. I too have been experimenting with various music-making apps (I'm invested in the Andriod environment, however), and I'm really impressed with the variety of soft-synths and soft-sequencers that are out there. Some of them are really really high quality, and even capable of being called performance-ready instruments in their own right. I haven't had the time to get anything really put together with this stuff, but your track above really illustrates that this is a really cool and viable avenue to head down! I'ma "follow" you on soundcloud, and I'll look forward to hearing more of this stuff! Loved it!

Pretty funky track. Can you do a "take it to the bridge" section to break up the one chord effect?

Iceman - I'm with you on that. The looping program doesn't make it easy to insert a bridge, but there are other means available.

The video and final mix.

Yeah - I posted it in another thread - but either people are afraid to say how ridiculous I look in the video, - or earlier fans of the original cut just missed it. Sax had been added to the mix. I didn't cut any of the harp parts, they just have to share the spotlight with the sax.

opinions pos. and neg. welcome. I've heard from a lot of folks who love it, - I assume the ones who don't are following 'mama's rule' and not saying anything. It's ok, - you can't be rougher on me than my daughter.

old dog / new trick indeed ;)-
too bad the glasses don't let me play like Toots Thielmans.

Just when I was feeling stupid that I did a 'hey look at me' with this thing a second time - I get a few nice comments.
Thanks wheel, - scojo, & Jimbo

Thanks Bling and Blooz. Very much appreciate the comments Lmbrjak.
It was positive feedback here that spurred me to spend a bunch more time on the piece - and do the video.
