went to opening night of jason's new tour at terra blues in nyc. wonderful show. the boy can still bring it. and it's great to see him back on his feet, up there where he belongs, doing *that*.

got a bunch of video, which i'll be getting out over time. here's the first, from the end of the second set.

note that jason calls a lot of instructions before and after songs. this was literally the first time they had played together, so he was arranging it in realtime. pretty cool, and probably pretty educational as well.

if there's any way you can get to tonight's gig or any of the others on this "i'm a new man" tour, please do so. aside from seeing a great show, it's good for us to support one of our own as he's getting his life together after hard times.

everybody has hard times. that's the blues. it's getting through them that matters. and you do that with friends.

Did he say "I'm recording with Johnny Winter tomorrow"!?! That is awesome! Somewhere up in blues heaven, Pat Ramsey is smiling. :-)

I'm so glad that Jason is back out there and keeping well. He always makes me smile when he plays. Well he actually makes me alternate between smiling and saying to myself "WTF! How did he do that!".

Thanks for posting the vid. Is he playing with his wah on? It might just be the speakers on this computer or something.

The blend of his harp talents, his passion, and his feel for the music is something very special. I'm so glad he is back. He will take the harmonica places it has never gone in our time. Rock on Jason!

I caught the second show at Terra last night. It was great! I got a chance to talk to Jason between sets and he was super nice and friendly. Glad he's back making music!

i'm adding more videos as i get them done. have three up now, and they're great.

there will probably be some delay as i have a gig tonight and will be working on that video for a while. but i'm embedding the playlist page here, and you can check for updates there.

please consider commenting on the youtube pages if you have something to say.

Jason has confronted his demons and is back player with more verve , fierceness and innovation than he ever has. Welcome back, harp master.
