Happy Holidays ladies and gents
It's comforting to know there are like minded cats who appreciate the work that goes into a nice collection of amps. I'm sure there are cats with unbelievable collections.
Mine is in the embryonic stage...some are bought, like the oldies but goodies..and the others I had help in putting together. My collection is small compared to veteran players and collectors. I've been at it for about 10 years.
I'm proud of it and very happy with what you see.
Show me some of your collection.Photobucket
As you can see, the Princeton, Bassman, Model One, are stock, in decent shape, and get used regularly. The newer projects are interchangeable. Make it easy to achieve a variety of tones, and volume.
Nice having several rigs handy, incase of failure/breakdowns..
For me, the Kalamazoo Model One started it all.
I love them so much, I keep a stock Model One handy for quaint duets, and super small venues.
It smolders with great tone.
Amazingly rich, the EL84's, the Rola 12" smooth cone, and a fat sounding CM or CR, or a Brush crystal, and you're set.
Next level for me, was the Admiral Tweed (2)El84 head.(on the Bassman). That was a good next step. Good with a 12".
The Kalamazoo sound was now double @ 12 watts. (thanks to Admiral). It's hard to find the right Admiral amps.
Perfect for DIY projects.

The "Red Head Philco" (2) 6L6's is perfect for the 4X10 Cedar Cab. I removed the front white panel, and put a chicken wire instead. Runs cooler, and highlites the glowing tubes nicely. The Philco amp is badass, man! Just like a Bassman, one third the weight.
The Silver Jubilee head cab, on the table, is a Sanoette amp (1)El84 (much like a Kalamazoo Model One).
And a "Red Pig" Pignose 30/60 head cab on top.
On the flip side...
THAT"S IT NOW>>>>NO MORE!! I am going broke! It's a real habit people.
Please! don't get started down this road.
Just go out and buy one. You could spend your time more wisely practicing how to play.
Thanks for lookin..

Right now, my GAS is in remission and I'm down to two amps. My Alamo Fury....

And my trusty old Kalamazoo Model Two.

Frank did you put that 4-10 amp together? Looks like nice work. Is it a bassman clone?
What the hell is that little 'side amp' running into one of the 10's?
A reverb ? - I'm intrigued.

Is this the big honker you keep up on a table with the 10lb dumbbell under it? You do know you can accomplish almost as much hearing damage if you kept on the floor and not aimed at you lobes- right?

Dog...Back in the 90's I called Sonny Jr to buy an amp and at the time he was'nt sellin em for what ever reason and I heard about the Holland WestSide Andy and M. Holland was sellin em so I bought one... it's a bassman clone - that is a reverb unit it has its own power tube and is dedicated to the one 10 speaker that is next to it. You have a 1-10 dial for how much verb you want to use. That is the Holland on the weight, are you saying to put the amp on the floor?

@Frank. Holland - very sweet. Reverb on one speaker is probably a greeat way to to go. I had (then sold) a Sano that sent all the reverb to an 8" speaker, the dry signal to a 15" I liked what that did -it made for a kind of quasi stereo effect. Big sound. On your amp I would guess the three other speakers are getting the straight Bassman circuit. That should be a realy nice combination.

re. amp position. That amp should be plenty loud enough to be heard by anyone in your basement, or local bar, without the need to elevate it. Turning it up will only enhance the crunch & tone, - why bring it closer to your ears - which will only make you turn it down?

Also - bass will be re-inforced by being closer to the floor. Sometimes that can be too much and get boomy, -but you can always roll the bass off a bit. But hey, - whatever works for you. If you are getting off on the sound, don't let me 'fix' what ain't broken. I'm just used to seeing little bitty amps raised and tilted like that. Your set up is just a little 'different' - big surprise ;)

Bonedog..thanks for the tip. I'll check out the thread. Nice to see so much response.
I dig the Masco's.
They're harp amp porn at it's best!!!
I have one, but forgot to put it in the picture..
They're great amps. I'm saving my money, for Skips awesome handy work, too.
And I know...once I do that, it'll be the flavor of the month for a long time. I'm a big fan of the Masco sound. Real deal bad ass crunch, and bark!!

Happy trails, until we meet again..

I'm down to the one Silvertone 1482. Single 12, tremolo, bout 20 watts. It suits very well for what I'm into these days which is duo and small combo, small to medium rooms. Lone Wolf delay, cm and crystal mics.

An old group shot, still have the Commando and snakeskin Kendrick, others gone, replaced by 2 Gibson GA-20s, a Univox 2X10 combo and another Kendrick Champ clone.

I recently bought a Van Amp spring reverb. Nice modern reverb, less noisy than the Premier and easy to dial in. Also has a auxillary footswitch input for amps with built on vibrato/tremelo.

@Frank,

Nice Holland! I used to live down Virginia Beach way and when Mike was still in town there were plenty of his amps around..

@rbeetsme

I've heard nothing but good things about that Van Amp. I've been looking at the Dano Spring King, but I can't figure out if it truly is a spring unit, and it doesn't seem to have as many features when it comes to dialing it in. If I had my wish though, a Premier 90 or Fender '63 would be gold to me.
