I'd heard all my friends raving about Pandora for listening to music, but I've just started playing with it myself. You set the parameters for the station you want to listen to and it picks all sorts of music that sounds like it. There is no way to make it play a certain song, and you can't slow it down or go back to learn the song (I don't know about the pay version), but if you are looking for a way to listen to a lot of music in a particular genre, it's a great tool. I have a Leadbelly channel that plays lots of old blues. This morning I typed in Jason Ricci and found him on there. (I looked into how to get listed, I guess you need to have a physical album for sale on Amazon and then request to be added. There is more info on the site FAQ.)

This is a great way to listen to music and for those of you with albums a great way to get your stuff heard.

(So far my Jason Ricci station has played Jason's 'The way I hurt Myself', 'Dead Cat Bounce' by John Lisi, and it just started 'Voodoo Child' by Melvin Taylor. With a little work I could customize it more...) There is also a way to share stations with friends, although I haven't figured out how to do that yet.

Pandora is great. I used to use it all day at work. Found tons of great blues artists I had never heard of. The link to the sales site was, perhaps, a little to close at hand. :)
But that is no more as they now block IP addresses outside the US.

pandora is awesome-- If you don't have the money to blindly buy harp albums from all famous harp players (most people don't) pandora is an awesome way to figure out which harp players you like

The alternative to Pandora is Last.fm , you input a name (ex.sonny boy ) or a tag like "harmonica blues" and they gonna play songs in that area ,you can skip songs if you dont like them ,plus there's some "undergound" ways to save the files.

Pandora was excellent but as someone above stated, you can't get it in Europe any more.

A much better website is Grooveshark. Does the same thing only better.

I've been using Pandora for about 6 month now and I have a love hate relationship with it. I find that some stations I create will stick true to what I want to hear (with constant maintenance) while others will go off down a road that I cant quit. i.e. If you ever once click thumbs up to the Beatles, George Harrison, or John Lennon and you will be listening to Beatles all night. Click on Johnny Cash one time and you have a country station forever. My blues station that I have been building for 3 months just played a rap song. Where did that come from. I have suggested enough blues artists to it over 6 months that it should have gotten the point by now.

I used Pandora for a few weeks, then I couldn't do it anymore because I live in Europe. Sad, because it's very cool. I'll check out Grooveshark.

I guess it has to do with different laws on intellectual property, diffusion rights e.a.
