Well, despite the fact that there are several errors (which I corrected and emailed back to the paper, but they obviously didn't bother incorporating the changes.....) I'm a local celeb for a day.....

Congratulations.

Nice workshop. I guess I'll eventually have to give in and buy one of your wood mics (unless I come up with a better one myself! ;) )

Nice one Greg, that sure as hell won't hurt your business! you might find yourself doing a bit of overtime once this filters out.
By the way I just bought Oxharps lovely mint EV RE10 and I was wondering what sort of cost would be involved in treating it to one of your in line volume controls including shipping to the UK could you let me know.
Anyway well done, It's always great to see a local Artisan celebrated for their skills and you sure as hell have plenty.

@georgdie - my standard XLR Volume Control will do the trick for you. You can order it from the Ordering and Pricing page on my site - that gets you 1st class mail - if you want faster delivery, Priority Mail International is $18 - but you can't order it from my site because my site is lame. Just email me and I'll send you a Paypal invoice.

That's a nice write up, Greg. Maybe you can bring it over to your website.

"I'm not sure I can trust a man without a mustache!"

Good thing I'm catching onto how the game works then, huh?! ;-)

Dave, they accidentally cut off his mustache with photoshop!

edit: I've had facial hair for a very long time. I had a full beard in high school that my friends got used to. I shaved it off and there was a revolt. My friends, in unison, chanted, "Bring back the beard. Bring back the beard," while banging their fists on the cafeteria table. Even promising to regrow it didn't get them to stop right away.

It's not the only time I've been told by someone that they were tired of seeing my face! :)

Yeah, lost the 'stache around New Years. First time in about 35 years. Was weird at first but I've gotten used to it. And no more getting one caught between a cover and a reed plate......

The writer took liberties with what I said but most of the mistakes were innocent only because she just didn't (couldn't possibly) understand. For example she was so focused on the wood mics she implied in the 2nd paragraph that Toots had one. He actually has an Ultimate mic.

And this paragraph "It was seven or eight years ago, an in-line volume control, feedback control that gives the older microphones control, over their feed dynamics and volume for solo or accompaniment use. For new mics, I have designed a feedback control that is quite popular." is just so far gone.....

But its nice and will hit the actual print edition of the paper on Sunday. Then we'll see if anyone actually reads that section!
