Must be time for another challenge all you harp players.

Some of you will not have been with us long enough to have known about the MBH Blow Your Brains Out! challenges that we used to have. To give you an idea here is a couple of links that will take you to a site that was set up for MBHBYBO2! and MBHBYBO3!.

It was great fun and a real learning experience for those of us who don't play regularly in a band. It gave us the incentive to get in the woodshed and focus on a target to get our playing up another level and show people what we could do. It was for any level of playing experience and the main thing was it just had to be fun.

I ran the last two challenges but there were a few people who said they would like to get involved and run it next time around. So let's see if we have anyone game enough to step up to the mic and take it on. I can make the free google sites available to anyone who wants to use them so the bare bones are already there so there's not really a great deal that needs to be done except to get the interest of the forum members.

Who wants to run it this time? What do you think? Anyone up for it?

Hi Miles, It's on if we can get someone to run it. I did the last two, I'd just like to be a participant on the next one.

Thanks @cliffy and @Tuckster. I'm getting the impression there's not a lot of interest in a challenge at the moment. Seems we'd rather talk about it than actually play. However, I can't instruct how it can be done, but if you know your way around google sites and docs etc it's quite easy. There's no reason why it couldn't take another format though, so it could go any way that you like. The only problem is getting everyone on here to agree and that's the hardest bit. Thanks for your interest though.

Tooka, I'm very interested! I think others are too, they just don't want to help run it. You ended with the question about helping run it.

So I'm in for playing!

I'm in for playing. I could be in for helping out too, depending on what it involved.

I'm with KingoBad. If I find out how to make a video, I will make the plunge this time, and stop hiding behind letters ;) As for running the show: I'll still hind behind letters on that one - too busy helas.

I, too, would like to play some... I don't think that I have the knowledge and computer time to run it. At least not in the next four weeks or so...

I would love to help but i only get time to check the forum once a day at the moment. I'm working 6 days a week with my one day off spent doing chores and maybe a little harp practice.

Depending on whats needs doing i might be able to help a little.

Maybe we could just do a "belts n braces" blow off, meaning really cut it back, maybe just a thread with entry's on rather than transferring it all to another web site. Then maybe we could all be a bit responsible for keeping the thread at the top or "bumping" it when needed.

maybe very basic rules, must have solo harp with or without backing track and let people upload what they want by a certain time?? and let s see what happens:o)

Good idea, ant 138, that pught to be feasible, right? Afterwards we could have another thread for votes and lately use "the wall of honor" mbhbybo page for posterity. ;)

I think the argument against a straight thread before was it loaded kind of slow with that many videos on it for people with slower machines. With a little planning we could get around that. We could just leave the page URL's in the thread (or have a URL only version of the main thread for people with slower machines.)

Due to the timing of several life events (moving, new job, etc.) I can't help out with running a new Harp Challenge... If it's relatively "bare bones" as Ant suggests, then I could likely take part in it... If it's too complex (backing tracks, specific tunes to learn, etc...), then I don't think I'd be able to do it at all... But don't let me influence the course of events! These things are as fun to watch as they are to participate in! :)
