Hi Everyone,

I'm an indie musician and educational music app developer + a long time harp
player (@ http://www.sonicviz.com/music/ktblues/ for some samples of my
style of musical noise;=)

I'm looking for some beta testers for my new harmonica training app
HarpNinja, which is launching soon.

It's targeted at the beginner/intermediate player, but advanced players
should find it useful too - I hope!

Please see http://harpninja.com for a full rundown on it including feature
list for V1, help and a teaser video.

It will initially be available on PC/Mac desktop and iPad, so I'm looking
for some testers on those platforms.

iPad will be done via https://testflightapp.com/ so you would need to sign
up on that if interested.

If you are interested please drop me a line and we can talk further.

Feedback/suggestions also welcome!

Ah, right, I saw on FB you released a new iOS game a couple of weeks ago. Looked great!

Is your "Jim's Harp-o-matic" still on mobile or is the web site one it now? Nice tool!

I also meant to add your site to my Free Hap Learning resources list, if you don't mind?

>>Looks like you need some help.

Sure do. Are you interested? You have great skills, would really welcome your feedback.

@HarpNinja / Mike

It is an interesting name! ;-)

It was inspired more by my FruitNinja mates back in Oz & the Japanese location I'm based in though. It fit the educational theme I was after, especially some of the games I have in mind for future releases;-)

Would you be interested in testing it?

I'd be happy to test the Linux version when you have it in alpha or beta release. My contact info can be had by checking my MBH profile (click my user name). I run Ubuntu, but have access to a number of machines with various distro's.

Cool, I'd be interested in giving it a shot. I'm really good at breaking software by doing unexpected things to it! It's frustrating for me, but it might just be useful for finding any bugs or finding little useful tweak ideas. :)

How about saving the rest of us a little time and putting a description of what it actually does right here?

Well... the biggest issues are:

- if you want people to use it on a mac / iOS, you will need a decent design. The current look of the app will get you nowhere.

- Looks like you have just one tuning and no valves support. Take a look at harp-o-matic for reference.

LOL! Spoken like a true Apple user! ;-)

But yes, I understand your point. However, I decided to go this route for a reason so I'll stick with it for now. I'll let the market decide. In any event, it's actually designed to be re-skinned fairly quickly if need be;-) Gotta love MVVC modular design!

>>- Looks like you have just one tuning and no valves support. Take a look at harp-o-matic for reference.

For V1, considering the target market of beginner to intermediate diatonic player's needs, I decided just to implement diatonic harp with Richter, Natural Minor, Harmonic Minor, Melody maker and country tunings. More harps/tunings/overblows etc can be added later.

Honestly I'd really like harmonica to get its position back as instrument of choice for kids that seems to have been taken over by cheap recorders and keyboards.
My 2 year old is just starting to blow/draw now on a diatonic, one of those colorful Hohner kid models (I pretty much play Lee Oskar myself now though). I just wish harps were a little cheaper. I think in the current market and economic climate a high quality low cost diatonic with the right targeted marketing could penetrate some new old areas.

Your basic diatonic harmonica has an incredible amount of playability on its own. All the rest is great, but comes later. You need to walk before you can run, and sometimes you don't need to run at all - strolling along is just fine.

Thank you for your feedback!

Currently targeted at beginner.intermediate diatonic players (more tunings etc to come later - this is just V1) but advanced players could use it to sharpen skills too I think.

Though maybe not if you are too advanced;-) I just watched your Going Down Slow...very nice!
