Good to see you got a nice band together Boris - and a multi-camera video shoot too- pretty slick. Your playing is spot-on as per usual.

Great music.

I also love your version of Come As You Are. It seems like a very atypical song for a harmonica player to choose, but it works so well.

Hearing that song Sunny reminds me of sitting on the hood my 53 chevy on a summer night with what's her name, smoking chesterfield cigarettes and drinking stagg beer. Great playing Boris, I enjoyed that.

This is a tune, many GB bands always used to play. The guy who wrote it passed away a few years back and lived about 10 miles north of me. Most of the guys I've heard play this tune usually uses a chromatic and each verse they played, they modulated 1/2 step higher and one player I remember modulated through all 12 half steps. Boris, tho, good stuff.

Boris, I can surely undestand that and then some!! When I saw this chromatic guy do this tune back in the early 80's, he was a 75 year old in an all harmonica band augmented with a drummer (yep, chord harp and bass harp and that guy played that thing like a standup bass) and the chromatic player was quite the bad ass. Not only did he modulate in all 12 keys, but wheras a lot of those old school chromatic guys would only just play the melody, when he modulated, he'd play a verse in the new key, following it with 2 chorus solos in EACH key and every verse had a totally different solo, and it was something that would make someone like Toots Thielemans and a not very well known jazz chromatic player named Les Thompson proud, and what he did totally made my jaw drop and had my head spinning backwards!!! The first thought in my mind was "I don't EVER want to follow this guy!!!" Damned if this wasn't one of those classic moments where I wish I had a tape recorder for this.

There was run you did starting just at 1:22 where you sounded just like Igor Flach! Actually, there's a lot of stuff that you do in this tune that is remeniscent of Igor's sound, which is really impressive because he was a really unique player... Of course you also sound like YOU as well! :) Amazing job Boris! Loved it!

Wow, really? I was sure you had studied his sound intensively! I assume you two do share a commonality: growing up with limited access to American music. IS that true? I wonder if that has something to do with it?

Actually there was no problem to access American music, but we both grew with european music too, I suppose Igor was interested in Russian music too.

Interesting... You two must have had some similar interest in order to get that sound... To my ears it's more than just similar phrasing. It's something the timbre of the tone you get. And the character of your vibrato and resonance. Dave Payne says that Igor listened to a lot of German opera, and that's what influenced his sound. Did you listen to opera too?

I just shared your Come As You Are on my FB. I like the other one too, but I suspect my FB friends will like Nirvana better.

I drooled over your "Rock around the clock" and your walk across the audience keeping perfect rhythm and notes performing.
There's 20000 watts of energy in you!
That was great, maybe grand...
