I read about building one and that it can be done for under 10 bucks, but where do I find the parts?
Thanks

If you really want it under $10, you can get it all at your local Radio Shack. If you wanna get a better suited element, try looking at harpmicshop.com. He's got all sorts of little oddball dynamics and crystals that'll fit well in small homemade mics. ----------

Here are some instructables I've written up on this topic. They should give you a good idea where to start looking:

"radio shack sells elements?"
Kind of. As per the first link I posted above, they sell piezo buzzers that can be used as elements (not great for harp), and small speakers that could also be used as mic elements (but also not great). What they do sell is a $10 tape-recorder microphone that IS pretty good for harp. But then you don't need to build an i-mic at all, and where is the fun in that? ;) ----------

Sure thing...
FYI, here is the Radioshack mic I'm referring to: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4314827
Looks like they've upped the price to $15 since last time I checked, and changed the styling a bit too. You may need a 1/8" to 1/4" jack converter if one doesn't come with it...
BTW, Radioshack also has some cheap vocal mics, like in the $10 range. Don't be fooled by these, they will not sound as good for harp as the mic I linked to above. ----------

I use the speakers from old telephone handsets as the elements in my i-mics - works better than the 'element' part of the handset and is generally less 'contaminated'.
I use a roll-on deodorant bottle as the shell - the ball is the same diameter as the element!
Good luck Maka
